When will a true Central server be added to Minnesota/surrounding states?

There are tens of thousands of players that live in Minnesota and surrounding central states who have to play on latency of 40+ while people on the East and West coast get <5ms. I average 60ms and at best 42ms. On the West I average 80-110ms. I have heard way too many people complain about not having a central server; When will more servers be added to help even the playing field for Central players? There was a southwest-central server recently added and there is a "central" server in Ohio, but that doesn't help anyone living in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Dakota, Canada, Colorado, etc. Not to mention this makes up a large share of the current players in the US and Canada. I play in leagues like LG and it affects the performance of thousands of Central players as well as myself, which simply isn't acceptable. How are we supposed to be the best if we are playing at a disadvantage in virtually every game? When I am on the "Central server" (OHIO) I am able to beat most players and a lot of the time am able to on all servers; but every now and then you run into someone playing on a Montreal connection (East) or a Vancouver/Oregon (West) connection. It is literally impossible to play because they have <5ms and you have >100ms. I know that ideally there will be more servers added as time goes by, but can I get an answer from a developer of when a Central server will be added?

  • Hi there, @OVECHTRICK94.

Thanks for the feedback. At this time, we don't have any news on adding more servers. When we do, that's normally announced on our official channels.

    Hi there, @OVECHTRICK94.

  • The lack of a Minnesota or Winnipeg server is the biggest issue with the game.  The player base is being fragmented by the spread out servers on the coasts. All of the major leagues favor east coast servers because that's where the majority of players are. The result is that west coast players have to play on 85-100+ ping if they want to be in the big leagues. There are west coast servers, and a west coast league is coming up, but all its doing is fragmenting an NHL community that isn't huge to start with into east vs west. The Ohio server should not be labeled central, as it is anything but central. It's still 85 ping for west coast players. Dallas is central, but it's so far south it is bad for everyone.

Even in clubs mode, west coasters have to search by server unless they want to lose because of bad ping on a regular basis to teams that aren't nearly as good. This means a lot of searching. Usually,  due to the matchmaking by server method not working well. It has to be left in relaxed mode... inevitably an east and west team will match up on either an east or west server, and the team that is on 85-100 ping will back out. This happens on average 2-3 times per search and makes each search about 10 minutes minimum.

We want to be able to play each other and not dodge each other, but we can't with these server options.

If there was a server option in Minnesota, it would be about 40-60 ping for everyone who isn't central and even better for those guys. This would be the best option for everyone.  It would be the primary coast to coast option for leagues (maybe even the only one used), and the real search times that includes the amount of time spent backing out and searching again would drop considerably.

If EA is not seriously searching for a server location in Minnesota,  they are slowly ruining the game by taking a shredder to the community.

    Hello, @lI-Rax-Il

Thank you for the feedback, but we don't allow "necro-posting" on Answers HQ. This is when you respond to a very outdated thread. If you have some feedback on NHL 23, please post it here. I'm now going to lock this thread to prevent further responses.
