Are you someone that is looking to edit attributes for a lot of players within your Franchise for a certain reason or are there certain players you don't feel are accurate to their likeness?

For all of us OFFLINE players that loves to play Franchise mode, the ability to edit players would make the experience of the mode more enjoyable.
For me I always want to play for example a right handed winger on my left side, but the game always have them as right winger. They same goes for defensemen, the "normal" is always
a right handed d-man on the right side and a left handed d-man on the left side.
But that is not how I like to play the game, Iove to be able to be a threat with my d-men more than just having them to play board play.
And it helps the one-timers to have a right handed player on the left side and a left handed on the right side. 🙂
But thats just one of the things you can enjoy with the ability to edit players.
There is so much more, like changing the charachter of a generated players for example.
Is was good in NHL 20 when you could change more in the edit player, but sadly removed in NHL 21....

@EA_Blueberry , I know you didn’t ask me, but if I could jump in and give my two cents.
While there are a lot of scanned players that look amazing in the game, there are also quite a few that don’t look anything like themselves and their physical attributes (height, weight) are incorrect as well
As far as being able to edit within franchise mode goes, it doesn’t really make any sense that we aren’t allowed to do it. I know for myself, I spend quite a bit of time editing players (mostly potential, player types and positions) before I start the mode that it’s frustrating if I miss someone and notice when I’m already part way through a season. If I do then want to make this change I have to start my franchise all over. This is especially frustrating because every time a roster update is released by EA I have to redo all the changes I have made to my liking.
Another reason is that quite a few of the generated prospects player types do not align with their attributes and it would be nice to change that to be more accurate.
At the end of the day, since this is an offline mode many of us don’t understand why it was taken out because it only impacts our own mode.

It’s a bit of both. If you want to play a franchise throughout the year, the player rating updates won’t affect the franchise and you can’t change it yourself. So you almost have to restart if you want to play with the breakout players being properly rated and the teams playing to what they should be. The fact that you can’t change positions also really messes with the generated lineups
The second part is that I used to mass edit the rosters into fun scenarios (like make my team all really small or big, make all the goalies 99 overall, add legends in by remaking players, etc.) which kept me playing the game forever. I played one franchise for like 20 years. Now, I play a few seasons with a few teams and that’s it bc there’s zero replayability; there’s no creative freedom to edit anything and add things on the fly.
This is something that was in previous NHL games for a while and it’s in every other sports game as well. It helps franchise mode so much bc it gives us control to play how we want within the game. Maybe the team didn’t realize how much it did but being able to fully edit players really does a lot for franchise mode

Is the ability to edit players once you start a franchise mode just gone? Not being able to edit my team/ prospects positions, player types, shot style etc. mid franchise mode just ruins the game for me especially since you can't even do something as simple as changing player's hairstyle's
- 4 years ago
I understand why they made the changes, its to prevent people from "cheating" to create all players as Playmakers, Snipers, and Power Forwards to make their chemistry. While it makes the game more fun, it really limits your prospects. I can't tell you how many times I got an Elite Center Playmaker that had crap passing and horrible faceoffs, but unbelievable shot power and accuracy. In the old days, I'd change him to a Sniper Left Wing, so he might be worth while, but I can't now. Also, someone like Morgan Geekie (Go Seattle) who is turning out to be a playmaker not a TWF, can't be changed without resetting my save - which seems silly.
I think another really bad design is the Coaching Staff. I mean I know I am suppose to be the GM, but most of us (I assume) like playing as a coach - setting up lines and watching them flourish. Why don't players start to take on their coach's line preferences? I got a front line of Robertson (86 PLY), Tarasenko (87 SNP) and DuBois (89 PWF) yet they only get a +1 Chem because they don't fit the scheme. Don't players change how they play based on Coaches? Why can't we either see changes in players or be allowed to create our coaches?
Also, what's up with every defensive prospect (generated by the computer) being Pinch/Cycle - It makes Hold the Line a completely worthless, and why aren't my OFD's getting "Shoot" or at least "Balanced?"In the same line of questioning, where is Carry? I've got a coach with Carry, Shoot, Balanced, Balanced - and I've NEVER gotten a prospect with Carry. Its always Balanced or Dump (and I've never seen a coach with Dump on the first or second line)
I love the game, I'm not going to lie, but there ae some weaknesses - and I know there is so many complaints. Can we just get an answer for some of them? Is hold the line just really super powerful? I'm not asking for ground breaking changes to the game, just an answer as to why things are/aren't done.

I know you didn´t ask me.
But yes, specially the generated players needs help in making their apperances better. 🙂
And if you can change everything in the framchise mode regarding players, it opens up to so many ways to enjoy the game.
You could have attribut boost to player of the months for example. Or change the potential for a player that have really done a good season and have a bad potential.
Because if we are gonna be honest here, a players with AHL or x low potential are really hard to improve, no mather how they play. And thats not realism for me.

So, I'm not trying to bash anyone. I agree, I'd like them to reopen the editing feature. I hate drafting a Medium Franchise Center with NO alternate positioning, when he's got a 60 in faceoffs.
I'd prefer players to evolve to change positions as you line them up. Like the Franchise player above, he's never played center EVER, only LW, and he still maintains Center.
What I did discover was I had an X-Factor PLY Center, that I moved to the Wing on the same line. It was from a +3 to a -1, so X-Factors add a whole new level of depth.
You know what else came up that was interesting. My AHL coach completely changed his preferences after I fired him. So, he was from Overload, Carry, Shoot, Balanced, Balanced, to Behind, Balanced, Cycle, Balanced, Block. So, apparently you can fire coaches to get new lines.
Also, what's up with the 10 million plus contracts? Every 25 year old RFA wants over 10 million. Even my 32 year old Tarasenko asked me for 12 million... He's an 86 playing on my second line?

Blue, if I may interject…Options man, just give us Options, what is the problem.
NBA 2k you have editing in Franchise from editing names to body type attributes…ect ectMadden also…just give us options why is that so hard to understand…
The Gameplay in NHL 22 (ps5) is so much better, but then EA takes things away that were in the game…I don’t get it
- 4 years ago@tuckermaine1 If someone want's to make a team of elite snipers, no salary cap and go 82-0, beat Gretzky's record multiple times in one season, and the next season after make them all enforces with mullets and go 0-82, I say why not lol it's their game.
- tuckermaine14 years agoRising Veteran
Absolutely, especially offline, it’s their game, I don’t play online- but I would imagine then yes that could be a problem, but off line as I do creating older teams and such ..as you said let her rip ..it’s your game.
- 4 years ago@EA_Blueberry So are you going to add the ability to edit players. Sometimes I just find players who I do well with and want to increase their overall and potential and it has nothing to do with their real life play. In one of my franchisesI had a player with ahl top 6 potential 73 overall play out of the world dropping 35 points and 18 goals in the nhl and in real life after a season like that they’d get a huge boost.
So, here is my prime example. I've got 3 centers, at are scored 83, 82, and 79 overall. They each have a face-off rating of 62.... This means, they aren't good centers. I want to make them wingers so they'll progress better, but I can't. Coahes and general managers do they all the time, Look at Ryan Hartman on the Wild, the dude plays everything.
Next, I got Rich Viveros, a CPU generated Sniper with 84 overall, who has Wrist Shot Accuracy and Power in the high 60s and Slap Shot Accuracy and Power in the low 70s, but his Deming, Hand Eye, and Passing at all high 80s. He's a better play maker, but he's stuck as a sniper and has considered lower scoring then my 71 CPU generated Sniper C.J. Smith who has both Wrist and Slap Shot Accuracy and Power in the high 80s....
I want the ability to fix wrong positions, add secondary positions, change player type, and looks. I don't want to edit stats.

This game is useless to me without being able to edit my players in a Season ! Why would yinz ruin this ? NBA 2K Games have this same stupid problem roster restrictions why it's 2022 !
Also updates don't even patch to my current season offline pffth what a waste ! Guess I don't get to use the new shot bias option !
And there are so many uniforms missing from this game ?
So there is a lot to unpack there.
1, Save Files are walled off from updates. They literally don't have access to ever player's file to go in an update that. No game does. Pointless reason to be upset.2.Its a restriction the game developers chose to make to prevent people from "cheating." So, you are raging that you can't cheat - I mean I agree with you on this point, what does it matter, but yeah.
3. The jerseys aren't missing, they are kept out. See Copyright laws require EA to get the rights to everything. Since they don't or didn't have the rights, EA can't use them. Its the same reason US college players, even if drafted to a team, can't have their name or likeness included in the game, until they've played their first NHL game, because the League refuses to sign those rights over to EA.
I figure this is more fuel to your fire, but knowledge is paramount.
- 4 years ago@IrishOwl as for the cheating aspect; yes it is cheating, but the biggest reason we want it is to try to slightly fix the terrifically terrible game created by EA. For some reason, we want to help EA, and this is one way of doing so.
The NHL series is also the only sports game representing the four major North American sports that does not have the edit player feature unlocked in league mode. There is no need to be different given that the feature makes the mode significantly more enjoyable

I'm sure lot's of people just want the ability to at least edit players appearance and other basic information (Name nationality Jersey Number), it's immersion breaking when your deep into a franchise and then comes #1 draft pick franchise player George Gretzky from Korea and he doesn't even an Asian character model or anything similar. The player generating system is terrible, none of the draft picks from Canada or America will be people of color but then all of the European prospects will be, it's terrible and immersion breaking for me. At the very least we should be able to edit basic information like name and nationality especially for generated players. So we, the players can have more agency in making an immersive franchise. In NHL 22 I drafted Magnus Omark from Sweden and he was an Afro-Swede I suppose, that's fine but if I could at least edit his basic information I could make him from Canada or something, give him a more North American sounding name and then it would be an easy fix and more immersive for me in the long run. This is just an example I chose because it's been prevalent in the game for awhile but it's an example of things that could be easily fixed in the game if we were allowed to edit players in franchise mode, or atleast there basic information and appearance. If we could edit players then we could make players from different countries have immersive names and character models, European players, Asian players, African American players, you could make a more immersive league in the long run.
- 4 years ago@bigDaddayKane Prospect names bother me a lot more than having an Afro-Swede get generated. Oliver Kylington is an Afro-Swede, so it certainly isn't out of the question that they'll appear in the draft every once in a while.
I put a thread out about prospect naming that kind of got buried, link to it is here if anyone is interested:

Agree 1000%. I drafted a Russian player named Alekansder Alexeev who's of an African descent. While Afro-Russians are not unheard of, they are small minority. He also has a mohawk. I'd like to at least change his hair style. Come on EA.

The sharing with team must not do NOTHING ?
It's months later nearly into February & EA can't even give us a roster edit patch to apply to our current offline seasons ? Do you not care ?
Is this problem gonna get ignored all of this season ? And Kept into next year's edition ?
Could yonz please step up & atleast give us back out fun of roster editing patch to apply to our offline seasons PLEASE EA ?
Boy has EA ruined this game this year if it's gonna stay like this for next year I'm not gonna waste my money on it & here's my complaints that EA don't even pay attention to anything in here this is like a graveyard in here useless & worthless !
1. Full roster editing put back leave it alone it's not broke so don't full with it !
2 I'm getting a damn CE error that I can even play my season it's froze up & stuck ! EA Won't fix it ! It's been like this for months & no update fix ?
But instead they'll waste there time on wines & AHL & all that junk !
EPIC FAIL EA ON NHL 22 VERY DISAPPOINTED !
- 4 years ago@jamiestang Yes my friend.. we agree.. NHL 22 is epic fail lol.. we definitely are all disappointed..
They really shot themselves in the foot this year by the lack/poor quality of updates/fixes.. it will turn a lot of people off from buying next years game…
I asked Blueberry about why this was removed.. haven’t got an answer yet but supposedly he sent the team a message… so I will ask for an update after a couple more days or so since we are usually forgotten about..
