World of CHEL matchmaking logic improvement

I wanted to start a topic about World of CHEL matchmaking logic.

Right now teams are ranked in divisons from 1 to 10. The main problem is that any player of any skills can play in Division 10 teams.

This totally makes no sence as people with lots of habilities create new CHEL team to restart in Division 10. They only do that to rank up their player stats by playing against less skill players. This prevent many players from enjoying this mode.

I'd like to hear other suggestions as how matchmaking of CHEL can be improved and see some kind of change in future versions of NHL.

I would suggest that no matter the division a CHEL team is in, the ranking of the team should be based on the total ranking of the players actually playing it.

If all the players are around 22k that would mean an overall ranking of  the team should be (6x22k) 132k. If another team that 3 players with (3x22k) 22k ranking and (plus) 3 players with (3x32k) 32k ranking, that would mean that the team should be ranked 162k. A 132k team should not be matched with a 162k team no matter the division. It breaks the fun!

1. Match the team based on total player ranking, or;

2. Adjust the division of a team with a +2 +3 +4, etc... based on the total player ranking in the team when starting a game, or

3. The game should present the ranking of each team players at the begining of the matchmaking and let the players decide if they want to start the game without any penality.

Let us know what you thing and how you suggest the matchmaking logic oc CHEL can be improved.

  • There are definitely legitimate concerns about how matchmaking is done in EASHL, and people making new clubs just so they can beat up on low-skill players should definitely be discouraged.  The biggest hurdle right now seems to low player population.  Any attempt to restrict match-ups will result in longer wait times and historically the EA team has erred on the side of getting a match fast ( for better or worse ).

    In fact, NHL 22 has made this even worse.  I can't speak to other platforms, but for the PS5 it appears that there are no division restrictions for regular season club games.  My club in division one regularly gets matched up against teams all other divisions.  And it's not due to long waits either.  We'll start looking for a match and thirty seconds later we'll get matched up with a team in division ten.

    I agree. Maybe matchmaking, the way it is right now, made a lot of player move to another mode because of the frustration involved with players making news clubs that wants to make easy ranking points.

    I think that fixing matchmaking would help bringing back fun to this mode for players who want to practice againt other players matching their skills.

  • This issue is simple, EA is greedy and does not want to invest efforts. NHL population is so low, CHEL is unplayable because EA does not care enough to put effort to allow cross-gen cross-platform play.

    EA does not care and will never care, money is their objectives nothing else, making sure the customers have an enjoyable time is not an important criteria, EA being EA.
