Can't open EA app or Origin on macOS

I get the following messages when I try to open Origin to access the Sims 4:

Cannot start because required game data is missing or damaged. Please repair or reinstall the game via Origin. [85262c58:29f00e76:00000000:00000000]

I can't access the games at all on my macOS without Origin and I can't download the EA app because it won't run on macOS Sequoia and Origin won't run on macOS Sequoia.  So, I have no access to the games that I paid for and EA hasn't ensured that all Sims 4 users will or can have access despite the planned changeover from Origin.
