Mirror's Edge is asking for a Registration Code
I purchased Mirror's Edge with EA Origin years ago and tried installing it with EA App today. The installer is now asking me for a registration code that I don't have because one was not provided with my purchase. Is it possible to activate the game in this case? I thought the EA app would automatically activate the game or at least bypass the registration dialog, but that has not happened.
How can I make the game playable at this point?
I did finally reach EA Support. Their suggestion was to perform a clean boot to fix the problem.
Here is what I did to get my game working:
- Ensure that Mirror's Edge is completely uninstalled. Go to the game's page in EA App > Manage > Uninstall. This should redirect to either Windows Settings or Control Panel where you can finish uninstalling the game application.
- Perform a clean boot.
- Go to Windows System Configuration > Services and disable all non-Microsoft services except EABackgroundService. The EA service must be running for EA App to work.
- Then go to Windows Task Manager > Startup and disable all startup items.
- Restart your computer.
- When you reach the Windows desktop, open EA App and install Mirror's Edge.
After following the steps above, the installer should not prompt for a registration code and the installation should complete successfully.
