No Exoskeleton Limbs

My son has Spore, Creepy&Cute, and Galactic Adventures, but he's upset that he doesn't have the exoskeleton limbs. His game is the latest version (1.05) but somehow the limbs don't exist in creature creator the way they should (and he's looking in the right place, we've seen youtube videos where people have the icon).

How can he get the exoskeleton limbs? Why weren't they added even though the game is fully patched? We've tried installing patch 1.03 manually but we can't because we already have a later version of the game.

He doesn't want to completely uninstall and reinstall the game and expansions (though that seems like the only remaining possibility at this point.) It would be nice if there was a link to simply download the limbs file separately so they can be used.
