Recently I've been playing Spore. It is fully patched. Once I exited my game quickly and entered the planet again as soon as the menu loaded. Since then certain sound effects (clicks, the Sporepedia entries going swoosh) have not been playing and certain creature parts do not animate, such as the cell's poison part not doing a spurt animation. What has happened?

It is not an unknown problem and can have many causes.
Either the Graphic CacheFile has grown too large, they should now and then be deleted. When you restart the game, they will be recreated.

Please try browsing to the SporeApp.exe file and launching the game from there, it is located within the c:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Spore\Sporebin folder for regular core Spore and at C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\SPORE_EP1\SporebinEP1\SporeApp.exe for Spore Galactic Adventures.
