spore.com error when logging in/wont stay logged in

i am trying to log in to spore.com on firefox, and i am having some weird issues. on the main page when i log in, i get an error on https://www.spore.com/login.jsp stating "This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.". however when i manually navigate to https://www.spore.com/view/myspore i am logged in, and i can see my account just fine and use it as if i really am logged in. but navigating back to spore.com shows me as not logged in again.

i cleared my cache/cookies and made an exception to definitely allow cookies from spore.com but this has not fixed the issue. this only seems to be occurring on Firefox, and is fine on Chrome. i would really like to get this fixed on firefox but i have found no solutions and spore.com is the only website behaving this way for me.
