Spore crashing relentlessly across nearly all stages, worst in space

I've scoured all over the internet but have not found any solutions to the rampant crashing of my game. I want to stop having to mash CTRL+S every time I fly planet to planet. The crash has occurred across all stages, minus the cell stage, but it is especially heavy during space stage. The crash data has been the same very single time, which I'll list below shortly.

My PC is pretty high end so it shouldn't be any sort of hardware issue. All drivers are up to date.

I have tried the following with no results:
- complete reinstall of the game

- running the app through compatibility (for WIndows XP, Windows Vista, AND WIndows 8)

- turning ALL settings to low. Game still crashed, proving it's isn't likely to be a hardware issue

- turning graphic settings to recommended

- setting priority to high in the task manager

- reducing number of startup apps to just 3 that are necessary
