Spore internet login bug

Hi all, recently I started playing again Spore (galactic edition) on my pc and I wasn't able to login because it says:

Unable to connect to the server, please check your internet connection.

In addition, during the space phase, many times the game crashes, especially during attack phases (I remember this bug happened also when I was playing regularly in 2010, never solved)  

Is there any server pack that can solve these problems?

the game is very old (2009 i think or 2010) and it's an italian version.
