Spore on Mac

So I just bought a physical copy of Spore and downloaded it, no problems with that part. It prompted me to update about three or four times so I did, and the updates downloaded just fine. Then I go to open the game and the title box thing pops up, with SPORE in big letters and the white background with doodles on it. But then the box just disappears and it stops launching. Nothing in my sidebar, "Spore" isn't registered as a running program on my computer, nothing. I went into the "config" file already like some online sources told me to, and "fbobackbuffer" wasn't at 0, like a lot of people said it would be, but it was at 1 like it should. I don't know what else to try. I've already re-installed it and that didn't do anything except change the aforementioned "0" to a "1" in the config file.

I'm running on OSX Mavericks, if that helps.

    Im on Yomesite, and having the exact same issue. I have tried re-installing more times than I care to count and the game still refuses to get past this stage. 

    Not a clue how to get this to work and any response would be greatly appreciated! :/

    Exactly the problem I have been having since November. Installed game. Patches and updates loaded. Game begins and freezes temporarily on the game splash screen and then nothing. 

    Tried reinstalling, restarting, installing on a different computer. You name it. I've tried it. 

    I too am on Mac Yosemite.

    Delete the whole application and install... do not run any of the updates and then just run the game.. it will work ... this will allow EA/Origin some time to fix the issue with the updates

    I've installed it and tried starting the game without any updates, portions of updates, and all the updated and still it will not work.  Game starts but the graphics and frame rate is a complete mess.  The Patch 5.1 will not recognize any version of the game and therefore will not update the game.  It asks to reinstall the game which I will not do again.

    EA....you have any help?  I've seen other similar questions on the forum and they never got any help from you in over a year.  Looking like I will request my money back.
