Spore Space Stage Alien glitch

 So I was playing spore recently and got into the space stage. I went on the first mission where you go and find other life, only to find that the alien was my creature and when I returned to my  homeworld it was owned by them and I couldn’t progress the game. I play on origin version so if anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated since it was very annoying. I’ll try to get some pictures soon
