I did it guys, i managed to do it. I contacted EA (with proof of my purchase, like the email, my purchase history on steam, etc) and they gave me Spore on Origins. Once I logged into Spore after launching it through Origins, I was able to access the online features through Steam.

Basically I headed over to EA support and explained my problem. The first person I chatted with told me to link my Steam and EA accounts, but that didn't work. The second person told me to attach the proof to my case. When I got to the third person, I explained my problem (I couldn't log into my EA account in Spore, and I couldn't access the online content.) Basically what he did was he automatically added Spore to my Origin Client game library, and then sent me a CD Key just in case. Then I just downloaded the game through Origin Client, logged into my EA account in Spore, closed it, and then opened the Steam version. Once I did that, I was able to just log in normally and keep playing.

^^^ this is what EA support will need to do. If I remember correctly, the advisor will need to get their supervisor to verify the proof of purchase (receipt from steam) and then they can give you a brand new code on your account.
Here is the link to contact EA Origin support: https://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/?product=origin&platform=pc&category=codes-and-promotions&issue=invalid-code (you can typically choose chat or phone, email might be available too)One thing I do want to note, you should NOT have two copies of Spore installed at the same time, on the same computer.
If your code is registered, you do not need to install the game from Origin (unless you wish to use mods) - just having the game listed in your library is enough. Just launch the Steam version of the game, enter your EA account email and password, and a new Spore screen name, and you're good to go.If you do choose to install the game from Origin (i.e. to use mods, or if you simply prefer Origin over Steam), make sure to uninstall the Steam version first. You will need to uninstall the base game and any expansions, then reinstall from Origin. Having both installed has a very high chance of causing problems, and if you have done this you should fully uninstall both copies and reinstall from a single location.
- 3 years ago@Fammen720 the reason they did this is because the spiffing brit was able to exploit the cd keys and got free games

also how did you contact them?
- 4 years ago@bAUeSTRADA What's irritating though is that you need to do that to make it work. I'm kinda pissed, they shouldn't sell a product without having solutions at hand for their clients.
- 4 years ago@bAUeSTRADA The same was done for me (Spore via Origins) after also providing proof of purchase through Steam, but I'm still not able to login when launching via Origins.

How did you go about doing it?

Really? When I got it from EA support it still didn't allow me to log on.

Where did you contact them?

Sat on chat for 3 hours today. Sent them screenshots of my Steam purchase exactly as they requested and got nowhere except having three different people tell me my screenshots didn't look right (even though not one of them told me what was wrong with what i attached) and to open another case and send them again. I can't condone that kind of sh&tty service so I uninstalled and asked for a refund from Steam. I won't be buying anything from EA again.

I just went through the same thing. I sent in the screen shots they asked from from Steam showing the receipt of purchase and the transaction history exactly as described on their proof of purchase page. I told them that I cannot give them the email confirmation because that email was from 5 years ago and it no longer exists - so, I added screenshots showing the game has never been returned, its still in my library, and asked if there was any other way I can prove I own this game and have since 2018 (technically 2010 but that CD and case is gone now). Nothing. They just telling my screenshots did not show them the correct information and they relinked the proof of purchase AND copy/pasted the Steam requirements (user name, date, price, blah blah)
I asked if they could confirm it was the email registration I was missing and the dude would not confirm. Just "try again with the complete screenshots" and relinked the site. So now I have to see if Steam will resend a 5 year old email to me to confirm.
They're not there to help. They are there to read off a script and get you out of the help chat as quickly as possible.
