Unable to get online/connect in Spore

I purchased originally through Steam and then had customer support give me the games through Origin instead so I could access online play. I uninstalled my game through Steam and then reinstalled through Origin. I have the base game, Creepy and Cute expansion pack as well as Galactic Adventures. When I try to make an account by opening the game it says unknown error so I tried logging in and it says failed but I know that login works since I can login on the Spore website. Another few weird points to note, the desktop icons that Origin installed for Spore don’t work. When I click them it says Origin isn’t installed even though it is. Also whenever I get to the first migration to the first nest part, if I die on the way there my game crashes and doesn’t save anything. One more weird thing that is happening to me is that on the my creatures tab in the menu I can see my creature that I created before the game crashed but when I go to start a new game with that creature it disappears. I can’t see any of my creatures when I try to start a new game with them because it says I don’t have any creatures but on the tab before trying to start a new game it shows my creatures.
