It seems that there is a consensus that somehow 3-click is easier than L stick controls to play this game. This is a myth, There is no conclusive evidence or hard data to support this myth. As a result EA in their wisdom have taken a policy decision not to allow 3-click mode players access to daily, weekly or seasonal tournaments unless they are prepared to change their favoured style of play from 3-click to stick controls. This seems very unfair, since not only does it disadvantages part of the EA golf community from participating in a large percentage of the game play, but it also prevents them having experiences, rewards and opportunities that come with the daily, weekly and seasonal tournaments. Why not make a change in policy so some daily and weekly events are accessible to players who prefer the 3-click mode of play?
thank you.
@KoreKitten100I agree that 3-clickers aren't given the same amount of tournaments and that should change, but anyone would have to admit that 3-click is advantageous. You can nail down your distance exactly on every shot very easily. With control stick, you have to time the top of your swing perfect and have perfect tempo to get the precise distance. On easier difficulty settings, I can get my exact desired distance with 3-click at a 100% rate whereas with the control stick, it's probably 10% of the time that I hit a 'perfect' 'perfect'. (most shots are +-.5% in terms of distance and tempo) Also, you can get +10% power on 3 click with a driver and you'd be lucky to get +5% with control stick. There are many advantages to 3 click as it currently stands and I don't really think it's debatable.

No one tries to hit perfect/perfect any more with the swing stick, so whoo cares if you use 3 click. This is the easiest golf game ever made, so just play how you like.

I disagree to the statement that 3-click is easier than swing stick in this game. I do play with a game controller but I use the 3-Click method because I prefer it for many reasons. I find that when I play using the swing stick, it's way to easy. No challenge. Also, I like to fade and draw the ball on a lot of my shots, and the way EA has the swing mechanics of the fade and draw with the swing stick is ridicules. The 3-click mechanics for fading and drawing makes much more sense. I agree about making the 3-Clickers have the same options and opportunities as the swing stickers. I just think the game is way more challenging and more fun using the 3-click method than the super easy sting stick method. I use to love the swing stick in the older games like Tiger Woods '14. It was much more challenging. But those days are long gone I guess.
- 2 years ago@MadTiger64 I've seen the 3-click meter move at different speeds. I assume tied to the difficulty setting.
I did try it on my PS5, my settings are at the max... and the swing speed was pretty quick. My issue with it was that there appeared to be a bit of a lag between pushing the button and having it register.
So YES, I can see how 3-click could be seen as being more difficult than using swing stick. Though for me personally when I used it, I found it pretty much a push. But I didn't like using 3-click... which is surprising, since it was all we used for decades.
For myself I have convinced my mind that the swing stick is an extension of my actual swing. I actually feel I stroke my putts...- 2 years ago@ELF014 Yes, I agree with you about using the swing stick feeling like an extension of your swing. Don't get me wrong, I would rather use the swing-stick for playing. However, in this game, EA made it too easy. They need to make it more sensitive. The way it is now, it's almost impossible to miss a fairway. They need to add a difficulty setting or something. Plus change the mechanics of how you fade and draw the ball like they had it in Tiger Woods '14.

@MadTiger64Just a follow-up... I did test the 3-click again. I have my settings default to the hardest swing levels. And the 3-click is challenging at that setting, however I think it returns much more expected results. I don't get the wild dispersion I see with the swing stick.
If I lower the difficulty to the lowest settings then it is ridiculously easy... but then so is swinging with the stick at this setting.
I agree though with the settings the same... I think things are pretty equal for execution. But IMHO, 3-click does seem more consistent with how shots react base on the execution of the shot. I didn't see any unexpected results as I do when swinging with a stick.
