Also, putting intentional randomness in a skill sports game is a bit strange. I wasn't claiming it was a "bug" per say, but to tell people...your a level 40 (not saying it's a super high level, but definitely good enough) with good accuracy and control in your drives, BUT randomly we are going to absolutely mess up your perfect drive willy wonka style just for the hell of it...doesn't seem like a great game feature. Challenges may need you to make 5-15 shots in a VERY SPECIFIC way to complete, but "randomness" is added just to make it more infuriating? Haha. Eh.
I'm in my mid-40s (age wise) and been gaming since my teens. Not my first rodeo. Plus, there are a lot of people posting examples but I keep seeing excuses as to why things are a certain way...with no backing or support just the believe my random guy say so. I tend to lean to, the game is far from perfect and things need to be adjusted slightly still.

@TriumphRiderwas it the Off The Tee challenge you were trying, and possibly using the Power Drive shot? If so note that as you switch between this and the regular drive you'll see how the shaded dispersion zone is much larger for the power drive (it's intended as a risk/reward shot). Even the regular drive has a fair size dispersion zone and might explain what you saw but it feels more likely with a power drive...I can appreciate where you are coming from, the problem is though I account for all of that when I play. I'm not new to golf games and all are different but you can get the gist of what you have to do and account for when playing.
I was playing the Consecutive Birdies challenge when it happened...but regardless, I have to admit it seems there is always some "justification" or "reason" even when someone posts an example on here.
Listen, they have already had a patch because the game has issues...and it still does. That isn't even debatable. There are greens that are still inconsistent.
Another thing is, and I can't speak for everyone, but the blue indicator accounts for A LOT. I can have level ground and 12mph wind and the indicator tells me the shot movement...or uneven ground and no wind and the indicator STILL tells me the movement. Now with that said, I can see the dispersion zone also. What I hit was a perfect shot according to the meter in both backswing and downswing, on a pretty straight fairway with Bubba Watson's stats...and the result was the same as if I hit the ball with a Twizzler. It was well outside the dispersion zone (which, by the way, the fairway would have to seriously bottleneck for the zone to be wider) and far from perfect.
We can't say, there is randomness in the game AND at the same time ask people to constantly post videos to prove what they are saying. I get posting is good for possible identification of a bug, glitch, etc. However, when you say there is deliberate randomness applied to the game, then is the justification either i think you did XY&Z wrong OR yep, randmoness...which would mean there is nothing wrong with the game, but if that was the case why are there patches? I think what most people take issue with is a sports skill game should be accurate if you have met all the parameters for the task. Not have an element of randomness that can cause you to fail. This also doesn't mean the game has to be easy...just consistent.

You can't totally prevent the random element though, which is why I was asking about shot type in case it gave you a way to complete the challenge. I was asking questions to try to help you, not somehow prove that you were wrong. There are loads of issues with people misunderstanding the game as it basically doesn't explain things at all! I'm also asking questions because if something is impossible or a bug then I want to see it resolved for everyone's benefit, including my own. When I suggested a video it was because it could either help demonstrate that there is a real issue that needs addressing, or potentially highlight something that you could do differently to make a challenge easier or increase your enjoyment of the game.
- 2 years ago@Ultrasonic_77 Well, I can understand as a basic golfer just starting out shots are not going to be perfect. I can completely understand a certain level of (what I would call) unexpectedness. Meaning, you are new and your shots may be off a bit here and there, bit will get better as you increase stats.
However, randomness implies...GOOD LUCK! Hahaha. Like, you might hit a good one, you might crap the bed regardless of your stats.
I get you are trying to provide assistance...it just seems because they have included so many technical aspects, it becomes an easy way to give them an out even if it may not really be the cause.
To be honest, I haven't played too many games where they include randomness or a basic uncertain outcome when all the parameters are followed. That would essentially mean if you were playing an FPS they could say, yea you were lined up square on the enemies head and only 25% of your shots landed...so sorry, randomness. Haha.
On these spotlight challenges you are essentially playing as the pros so there should be a somewhat decent degree of skill entered into the equation...randomness really shouldn't be much of a factor unless you are using a created golfer.
