A history of Computer Golf?
Does anyone know if there is any book - or books, or even websites that chronicle the history of Golf on computers and also consoles too? I was thinking I would like to write one, but not if it alre...
First golf game I can recall was World Class Leaderboard (PC)
Oh yes, about 1990 I worked in an Office job and my mate and I would stay late and use the office PC to play World Class Leaderboard, I had forgotten about it.
As regards the Arcade game - now thanks for the help, but it isn't those.
When I say it was a top-down game, I mean fully - there was no behind the player graphic at all, it was in the style of Sensible Soccer but obviously Golf!
The only other clue I can recall - it was very sort of brown/orange/red the colours and they were hi-res, not blocky, but not much green as if it was in a deserty world.
Funny story:
In the early 1990s I gave up the office job, as did my friend.
I went off to train to become a teacher and I heard that he became a caddy on the European tour. Sadly we lost touch.
In 2010 I was watching the U.S. PGA 4th round on TV and I saw my friend going down the 18th with the eventual winner!
So it goes to show our time spent on World Class Leaderboard on an MS-DOS PC wasn't wasted!
It did irk me a bit though, I think he was on 10% of the golfers takings, 12% if it was a top-3 finish: so he probably earned in 4 days what I earned in 4 years in the classroom!
Oh well.....
