The few times I played Sim, I went with the settings. For example, if the settings said between 8 - 12 mph, I know it's going to be between 8 - 12 mph in the arrow of the wind. It's the same I did while playing TW14 with arrow only. Although there, the way the arrow was moving gave me more info than in this game. But maybe an expert Simmer like Elf is doing it another way. Still with RNG, sometimes the ball can go anywhere if I do an overswing with Drive.
I never considered myself an expert simmer. I feel everyone has the capacity to play this game effectively. I just like to try and challenge myself... to have a game that plays similar to real life conditions.
I'm all for being inclusive for all styles of play, but EA's game is lacking in the feel of the actual sport. It is truly geared towards the Simcade experience.
I still struggle to see how polsters are blaming Simmers for what is wrong with the game. I have not gotten one thing that I have suggested they change. An option to hide the aiming reticule or options to increase green speeds are to of the more simple request I have made. And neither would affect the current status of the game.
The cup physics did need to be adjusted from how they originally played... there were no lip outs... and the ball was so receptive you could hit a 25 foot putt from 1 foot and it would still go in. I don't think it was unreasonable for people to ask for this to be fixed... the problem was EA's response. EA totally screwed the pooch with their new implementation. They couldn't get it right the first time, and made it even worse trying to fix it.
But I digress... in heavy winds you still have the wind meter. So based on a few early shots you get a feel for what to expect.
