My suggestion is if SIM isn’t doing it, get some clubs and get out there.
2k is trash.
@RodSirloin There's no reason why the game cannot cater to all levels though, which is the main point I was trying to convey.

@Noya_WesaThere is a valid reason. There are only so many resources, budgeting, and time deadlines available for them to reach what is referred to as “Feature Complete”. There isn’t a $300M budget for golf because the returns aren’t there.
You make a game that mostly caters to the historical major demographic. Players looking for an extreme niche market segment experience should get the least attention. This isn’t a literal simulation intellectual property, it’s a video game for people of ALL walks of life can enjoy. Which are mostly dominated by Amateur and Pro players.EA wasted a ton of time on 60fps and it flopped just like I said it would. Where does the line get drawn pray tell?

@RodSirloin The OP asked a question, I offered my honest opinion. The fact is though, none of us really know EA's direction, the best we can do is speculate and hope at this stage.
I sincerely hope they do try to cater to all level of players.
I'll leave it at that.

It's nice to see an adult in the room. And I fully agree with what you are saying. It appears that the developers underestimated the skillsets of those playing this game.
Making some adjustments to include everyone doesn't seem unreasonable.

Now we’re doing attacks because someone is resisting and being reasonable?- drewgriffiths2 years agoSeasoned Veteran
@RodSirloin For someone that said 2K is trash, I wouldn’t say you were being reasonable
Fact is that EA have made a golf game that is overly simplistic and doesn’t at all cater for those who wish to be challenged. This straight away reduces the player base. Difficulty levels need expanding greatly to ensure all ability levels are catered for. I’ve found that it’s far too simple to swing on plane, hit fairways, fit greens with approaches, control distance with shots, and even putts are little too simple. It also has to be said that shots from compromising lies aren’t penalised enough. A shot from thick rough still goes at least 96% of the distance? 2K nails it with swing plane and tempo even if they mix the effects up for the sake of the game. Literally the ONLY thing EA does better than 2K is having the majors licenced.
As a golfer thats better than the average bear, I can see EA make the game of golf look too easy. It was supposed to be the most realistic golf game out there and golf as a sport is extremely challenging but i can honestly say I’ve had a more challenging and realistic game of golf on Everybody’s Golf VR. EA needs to offer more levels of challenge and it’s clear the developers have either aimed the game at just casuals or have never player the game of golf before.

@puntasThanks that is a long thread, too much for me to read every post.
But I already play with a character that has no skill points or specs. It is a level 67, I don't use any swing meters or putt previews and other than wid direction and the green grids I have everything disabled I can.
In career mode the AI is set to 100, and I think the scores showing after 4 full rounds seem reasonable. But I still win ever tournament running away. I may not be leading after 2 rounds, but by the third I am leading.
I don't think I am particularly great at this game. I think in general I manage the course well, but the game is extremely easy.
Thanks for the link, but there really isn't much there I have not tried. I have learned to accept the randomness off the tee box and managed my way to the green. Because of my limited shot selections, depending on the yardage I will often layup to a yardage rather than having to hit a partial club into a green.
In my opinion, they need to address the ball physics, the greens need to roll out more on putts. The rough needs to be much more penal, especially since they have included several lengths you can set. The ball should have less spin out of the rough, have plugged balls in the bunkers when warranted. Option to disable the reticule, it basically allows you to hit the ball where you want.
Distance should be controlled by loft and length/speed of swing and not a pointing device.
I'm fine with having it for those that want it, but give the option to those looking for a more challenging experience. In 2K we disable as much as we can, and it is fun to eyeball your shots/putts and to not have a bulls eye available to you. It adds another layer to the game.
