@ELF014 Absolutely agree with ALMOST everything here except the partial shots in 2K because I’ve been able to execute them wonderfully just like in real life. I played a round today at my home club which is on 2K21. I’m on a par 5 and my 3rd shot disappointingly drops short of the green, 40 yards from the hole and i was saying to my mate that I actually prefer 65/70 yard shots so I can smoothly pitch it close with my 60 degree lob wedge and having a 40 yard shot makes it awkward for that, so I instead opted to chip it with a 7 iron…. I only holed it for a birdie 😆. First thing i said was “Maybe I should start liking that shot more!”😆
2K makes you think about your shots more like a real golfer than what EA does. I honestly find myself playing 2K and thinking about shots exactly the same way as I do on the real course. EA doesn’t make me do that, I can just hit shots nonchalantly and move on.
I personally find that the swing in the 2K games have become unrealistically fast. The the swing goes back way too fast for say a 3/4 swing.
Especially if I am hitting a finesse type shot like a pitch or chip. I'm not saying it can't be done but it is not like real life.
In real life my golf swings are different speeds, I am considered to have a pretty quick swing but even with me my swings slows at the top before I transition back down.
My pitching is much slower than my full swing as is my chipping stroke. I don't have a better anology... but I HIT my full shots, I partial shots are more controlled, finessed as it were. That isn't something that is emulated in 2K. Where EA took something in the middle between the two (swing speed wise).
But I absolutely agree 2K is a much better golf simulation overall and a more complete game.
In saying that EA does have it's charm, but it has so many small issues along with the major ones that unless I get a call... I'm no longer turning it on.
I stick around just for updates hoping things will get to where it plays like real golf.
