Omg same here not only the ball rolling but if u love tap it and make the ball land short and roll in on the green it never stops. And on rare occasions when u hit it somewhat close it back rolls 10 feet or more away from the hole without spin. If you land short it rolls 10 miles away. Flop shot is the only way to go but even then the putting isn't easy. I had one say zero movement straight line zero break at all. Perfect on perfect and it went left. Then when u get to the master in career they put u on hole 12 +2 with only 6 holes to get a chance to get a lead. Next day the put u at hole 4 and have u back at +2
The wind also is broken i had a drive say 14 feet wind left i aim right so the wind pulls it left and of course no wind at all I go in the woods. Then I said to myself ok maybe there is no wind so next time 4 wind blowing left I aim slight for it it blows it like a category 5 hurricane just happen. This game made me so frustrated and I don't wanna give up on it but knowing ea and its history it probably won't even get easier. The swing is always either late or underswing if perfect it doesn't make a difference. Also they let u choose your caddy and golf bag u never see your golf bag or caddy ever in the game so why tf tell me I can buy this * if it has no use.
What are your Golfer levels at and how much control do you have spec’d into your approach and short game?
Are you putting high loft on your clubs?
Good questions. I was playing on arcade and when I switched to pro the problem went away. Also shot shaping started working so I could loft more. Also switched 3W for 2I and 3I for Hybrid which helped. Went to slightly shorter wedges for more loft as well. I have middling control and got a spec for control on my short game.
I gotta say.....I think I was mostly wrong on this post. After a week with the game and a ton of time. I think I was just expecting some arcade-y gameplay. Put the arrow where I want the ball to land and it lands there.
As I've played and gotten an understanding of the mechanics and shot types, how the greens play (and each course plays drastically differently), I'm beginning to enjoy it. You really have to set up shots, take firmness into account, wind, slope, club type etc. Especially after watching The Masters this week and seeing how those greens played on Thursday and Today so far. I'm eating crow on this one boys.
The ball roll out on the links courses is totally unrealistic and doesn't slow down as the ball transitions over different thicknesses of rough or undulations on the course. Bandon Dunes and St Andrews certainly need slowing down to make them more realistic. I understand what they're trying to achieve, but its unrealistic as it is.
The fairway texture on St Andrews looks like rough and it looks bizarre to see a ball rolling so fast and far through grass that thick. I think they need to change the grass surface and colour on St. Andrews to something shorter and lighter in colour.
