I keep trying to skip the open week 26 and play the alternate tournament for that week (banff championship) and it automatically skips both. I've tried skipping straight to it with 2 different golfers with same results help!!
When you said you tried two golfers, was either of them already used?
To get the alternate competitions for the career mode achievements, I got around the issue by creating a new golfer, started it on the PGA Tour rather than doing any amateur stuff, and skipped straight to week 26. With having absolutely no record and no wins, it put the player into the alternate, as the entry requirements for 'The Open' aren't met.
