Combining TW14 and EA PGA Tour Features for Ultimate Experience

I am thinking what features of TW14 and current game can be combined to make one ultimate and amazing golf game. Without further adieu, here are my list of composites for each category.

Gameplay Settings: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 has 5 difficulty settings (Amateur, Pro, Tour Pro, Tournament, Simulation) which can make all levels of players enjoy the game. In addition there are abundant settings which include shot clock, wind, weather, flagstick position, course settings, swing mechanics.

Player Customizations: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 has photo gameface and vocal pitch control. For example Stephanie McMahon of WWE can be created with her likeness as well as her voice (pitch set to 100). In addition swing style could also be adjusted.

Player Clothing: Tiger Wood PGA Tour 14 has a giant selection of clothes which include mock shirts, Panama Hats, and glasses.

Clubs: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 have a good club selection from different brands like Taylor Made, Titlist, Wison and many more. The club itself has the attributes and cosmetics.

Career Mode: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 has PGA, LPGA, and Legends of the Majors career modes. For female golfers, they can play either the Men's tournaments or LPGA tournaments. I like the Black and White presentation for Legends of the majors. Caddies also play a larger role in the game.

Gameplay and Ball Physics: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 has proper physics that include accurate lipouts, balls landing green with 3 and 4 irons. TW14 depends on player input instead of the dispersion dominating. In addition, hazards such as roughs, bunkers and trees are more punishing; I try to avoid hitting any hazards at all cost with these games. Playing as pros like Tiger Woods is much smoother and the pros don’t have assured impairment.

Roster: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 includes current PGA golfers of 2013 including Tiger, Dustin Johnson, and Tom Watson. The game also has legends such as Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino, Arnold Palmer, and Bobby Jones. But EA PGA Tour has a wide range of Female Players like Nelly Korda, Jessica Korda and Danielle Kang. It would be better to combine rosters.

Course Selection: EA PGA Tour has the better selection of courses.

Player Progression: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 has the superior player progression. Players can fully level up in one week. More VC can be earned with increased difficulty.

Graphics: EA PGA Tour - the current game has the lights out graphics.

Multiplayer: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 - Players can choose level they play against. Each player can filter out players who are just too good.

This is a summary of features for both games. If one game can carry all these features, that game would rock my world. It would be nice if an LPGA golfer is featured as the cover for the composite game. IMHO, it would be cool if the composite game is called Nelly Korda PGA Tour; but the name is normally up to debate.

  • @PalomaMarvel24I actually went back and played Wolf Creek Country Club on 2K23 last night. And we had a great time... we struggled after having been basically played EA since it's release.

Everytime we come back to 2K it is obvious that it provides a much more realistic and better golfing experience. A lot of that is also due to the amount of private match options available too us.

We basically play at the most difficult settings with everything disabled with the exception of the green grids.

The only thing lacking in my opinion is how they handle the swing mechanics. The swing is far too fast, especially for anything that is not a full swing. And for myself there is a problem with the putting on the low end (short putts), you cannot feather a putt with touch in 2K. I believe the way they designed their putting to work the dead zone in the controller causes an issue. This only became an issue for me in 2K2021 and 2K2023.

As I said other than that, 2K plays great... challenging and feels pretty realistic. I got out of position last night above the hole, with the green sloping away and I knew I was not going to be able to stop the ball around the hole (I ended up 25 feet away, my mistake for not leaving the ball below the hole). And the greens putted like they were made of glass.

The graphics on 2K are serviceable but I personally don't find them awful. But yes EA's would be better.

    So my wants...

From 2K the course designer, societies, clubs, multiplayer gameplay options (alt shot, 4 ball, skins, etc...) , private match setup options (each locked or open for everyone in the room), store inventory (or options available including glasses), full swing mechanics (with the swing timing causing a slice or hook, which by the way can be disabled for those needing it), ball and cup physics (which for me feel pretty realistic). 2K's difficulty settings, they are much better balanced than what EA uses.

From the The Golf Club attributes on equipment and a color wheel that allows you to change the color of your clothes. The Golf Club had up to three different parameters on a shirt you could change.

From EA graphics, quests/challenges, in-house online tournaments, actual swing speed of the character. Skill tree in addition to 2K's above, but it needs to be reevaluated...

From EA Rory... a caddie that you can have to tend the flag once inside 40 yards... an option that toggles between... FLAG in/out/tended. Sort of like in 2K where you can have the flag in or out with a push of a button.

EA 2014... the roster of players from currently and past eras. And the career mode... it seems more complete however hybrid with the current EA game. The current EA career was done fairly well with a few exceptions.

And what no one has gotten right, a driving range/pro shop with a short game area, where you can test, buy and trade-in equipment (because equipment have attributes). A pro shop to fit shafts, tweak lie angles, regrind grooves and change grips that wear out causing a loss of spin/control over time.

Putters with attributes... mallets putters that putt are more powerful but also more stable/accurate. Blade putters easier to control distance but a bit harder to keep on the putting line. Meaning the putt path line for mallet would be wider than one for a blade putter and the length of the backswing for a mallet would be shorter than a blade putter for the same distance.

The option to remap all your controls... I am tired of having to relearn buttons because different games want to configure the controller differently.

A better character creator that not only lets you generate a better looking avatar... but one that represents you height/weight wise.

This would be my short list of things that come to mind. But I'm sure the list would be much larger given time to ponder the question.

@ELF014 I actually like your list. One the ones I really like is the character customization. WWE 2K has the best character creator with highly accurate photo face editor. If this can be combined with TW14 vocal controls. That would be totally bad@$$.

I like the idea of testing the clubs before buying. No golf game has that.

The putters with attributes absolutely rocks. Having putter attributes can decease likelihood of lipouts and breaks. Also this could make putting line more accurate.

I would like being able to test all the different clubs to find something that would suit me best. Maybe I would keep some clubs for special occasions like something that hit longer but not as straight for a course with wide open fairways or some wedges that don't spin as much.

I could easily spend months testing clubs on a range and short game area to find what works best for me. Ideally in the short game area I can drop the ball where I want and be able to hit as many balls from that spot as I want. It would be nice to work on getting out of the trap with a blast shot when you are short sided.

AND imagine if they released some new equipment I would be right back out there testing again, to see if it was better for what suited my game.

I think both 2K and EA really missed the boat on this. They really should reward people for spending time in the game. Finding the equipment that works for you would provide a small incremental improvement without unbalancing the competitive edge in the game.

I also wouldn't be opposed to having to save up to buy what I wanted... but being able to test equipment in the meantime. This would make buying decisions important... I would rather earn my way through a game rather than having everything handed to me. It would represent a badge of honor, if you are playing online and see someone with an expensive set of clubs. You know they have dedicated some time to the game.

I would rather have a store that tests clubs that fits you the best than constantly wait for a spec you want to be available in the store. I like the idea of grinding to get the club that fits you best. TW14 allows you to get the club you want once you grind; however the ability to test them is not available. The current PGA Tour is dismal in club spec availability. I don’t mind grinding to get specs I want, but I am frustrated that I have to wait more than a month for specs to be available. Your idea of testing the club to determine fit and grinding to obtain them eliminates all the frustrations of logging every day for spec availability.

@PalomaMarvel24 For me would be like in real life back in the day when I didn't have the disposable income just buy what I wanted.

Testing clubs... finding what I thought I wanted. And then saving up till I could afford to buy them.

@ELF014I love the way the real life of testing and then saving up til I could afford to buy them. The way the current game works with specs is like having the clubs in backorder due to supply chain issues after I have saved up; it’s also like going to D!ck’s Sporting Goods store that only has Danielle Kang’s clubs and balls in stock.

I'm sorry no hazards are not punishing in anyway in TW14 especially since even a buried lie in bunker and sand is effectively reliant on strike meter where you can get out like it's a very good lie in EA Sports PGA Tour.

    > TW14 depends on player input instead of the dispersion dominating.

You know ironically player input by the arrow which is where the ball would go in TW13-14 Is the EXACT SAME thing people said before this game launched that made the game "too easy" therefore now when shot dispersion is a thing for a challenge instead of essentially an arrow and player input doing that everyone and their mother complains about it. No wonder developers don't cater to fans. Never can please them no matter what.

By the way, I never asked for dispersion. I also was not the one who complained about the arrow and player. I thought this game would be like TW13-14, but I was wrong. Also, I never asked for lipouts to make putting more diffucult; it just got impose on me. It is funny that some gamers who requested it are complaining about it. On the contrary, I am an amateur player who wants a fun easy experience. After so many updates trying to make game difficult, I want options to bring it back to where it was. That was why I liked TW14 because I did not get stuck with something someone else wanted that I did not ask for. I would rather have options to play;that was why I posted so I can find a way to satisfy amateur and advanced players alike. I am seeing too many posts requesting to make game harder; when the update comes something gets broken, and there is no way to get back. I am stuck with it even though I did not ask for it. I don't have to many issues with Madden, NHL, or FIFA because not many complained about game being too easy like in PGA Tour. A group of amateur players successfully pushed back against advanced gamers requests to  make game more difficult in UFC3; that is why sliders got implemented for UFC 3. This has been more difficult to accomplish with this game because there are much more gamers who want a more difficult game.
