That’s because the game physics, particularly the putting are wrong. Amongst many other aim physics issues. And EA refuses to address it. The graphics are fine. But it sucks the fun out of the game when the physics do not show any consistency from game to game. I spent $70.00 on this game. I have constant issues with the golfer not being anywhere near the ball on a second shot. I have to quit the round, save it, and restart. Putting is a joke. I have been golfing for over 30 years. Yes. Golf is hard. But after playing for years you learn things and you adjust. There is no adjusting in this game. No consistency. I am on season 7. Erratic game play and anomalies are the standard for this game. Golf is frustrating. But this goes beyond. I play on SIM only. I have had 3 foot tap ins literally roll over the hole. Not to the side. Not lip out, which is something that is way over used imo. Not dip into the cup and pop out. ROLL OVER. Joke.

I play with everything disabled as well when we play, without skill points or specs. And rollovers when you make a slow rolling center cup putt is pretty irritating.
The user @Katybee_1313 made an interesting observation... the last time I played I added some putting specs to get me to the bronze texas wedge (I think that is 4 points), and I didn't get a rollover on the next round. It could be coincidental, but things seemed better.
Now why you need skill points to sink a well executed putt? That I can't answer.

you need skill points in this game because the philosophy is that you begin as a novice and have to work your way up to becoming a pro. As you play more and play the challenges, not only do you gain experience but you also play better and more consistently and your skill improves as you progress. However, if you want to bypass the grind and go straight to hitting perfect shots and perfect putting, play on arcade mode with all the aids turned on
