Same lead designer for both EA Rory and this one. Whatever the reason he went this way, it doesn't work for a lot of us. I prefer to not play then be forced to play something I don't like.
That was Justin Patel who now is lead designer with HB Studios aka 2K PGA Tour.
He was lead designer on the worst EA versions being Rory and 2014. Associate Designer on Tiger 2013, and Assistant Designer for Tiger 2012.
The fact the design window was 2019-2023 (and it was a year late) and they cut so many corners really says something about the final product. They did not scan the courses this year so give that a thought. 5 years in design and we don’t even have white socks lol.
Back to Patel, he is the Inventor on a patent for golf ball physics owned by Electronic Arts (Simulating Realistic Ball Behavior in Interactive Video Games). To be honest, either the ball physics are broken intentionally or unintentionally. Spinning the ball doesn’t go in the direction they’re supposed to, back in the day this was referred to as Phantom Breaks. Also when driving with 10 skill points on accuracy, the ball often goes left. There are other instances of inconsistency, but I’ll keep it brief.
Basically what I’m saying is this, Justin Patel fumbled the ball on this game.
