Performance Mode is here!
PS5 and Xbox Series X players can now use the new “Visual Quality” setting to toggle between “Quality Mode” and “Performance Mode” in the visual settings screen.
- “Quality Mode” represents the game’s current behavior, which provides the highest quality visuals at 30 frames per second (FPS).

We recognize that this was a highly requested feature by the community and are happy that you now have this choice.

Take a look at upcoming changes coming to EA SPORTS PGA TOUR.
Welcome to Season 4 and The 151st Open Championship at Royal Liverpool!Royal Liverpool Golf Club is now available to play in all game modes. In career mode, The Open Championship now alternates every season between Royal Liverpool and St Andrews. Menus, screens, and key art have also been updated to be styled in the Season 4 Open Championship theme. New Challenges will also be released after The Open Championship that recreate key moments from the event.
In addition to these seasonal updates, career mode has been updated to allow you to switch between Quick and Full rounds at the start of each round instead of only at the start of each tournament.
In online mode, matchmaking has been updated to allow additional players to join into a lobby for 60 seconds after initial matchmaking has completed. We’re expecting this change will make it much easier for matches to fill with players and should allow 16 player matches to occur more frequently.
Online mode will also be updated to rotate through new playlists, instead of always offering the current “Random, 9 Holes, Tour”. These playlists will each have a theme and feature a smaller set of random courses along with variations to the course conditions and wind settings. We’ll continue to experiment in this area to add variety and allow opportunities for you to tailor your style of play to match the courses and conditions in the current playlist.
The main menu has been updated with capabilities for displaying dynamic messages, which we'll use to improve our communication with you around important updates such as when patches or new content is released.
Lastly, we are in the final testing stage for two of the most highly requested features: one round tournaments for career mode and turn-based match play for online and private match modes. Season 5 also introduces Pro Pass* as the best way to experience everything that each season has to offer and earn exclusive rewards. Season 5 Pro Pass includes new seasonal content such as Scottie Sheffler’s Signature Irons Spec in the free tier, while the premium tier includes the new Orange TaylorMade MyStealth 2 Driver, Jordan Spieth’s Scottie Cameron 009 Putter, and more. Throughout the season you’ll earn tokens to level up your Pro Pass by completing live Quests, FedExCup Playoffs Challenges, and playing rounds in Online, Tournaments, and Career modes.
We are excited to announce that Match Play is now available to play in both Online and Private Match modes. Online leaderboards have also been updated to differentiate between Match Play and Stroke Play performance. EA Staff (Retired)
Take a look at upcoming changes coming to EA SPORTS PGA TOUR.
On September 26th, EA SPORTS™ PGA TOUR™ will get an update which includes a new course, season, and many highly requested features. Read on to learn all the details about the update.
Welcome to Season 6 and the Ryder Cup!
This season the Ryder Cup has taken over EA SPORTS™ PGA TOUR™ with big changes that you can’t miss. When you enter the game, you’ll now be presented with a choice between team USA or Europe. This decision impacts many aspects of your journey and remains in effect for the entire season so choose wisely!
In the main menu, you’ll now see your golfer representing either team Europe or USA, proudly wearing the uniform of your chosen team. Additionally, you will be greeted with the captivating Ryder Cup theme music and see that the UI and background reflect the theme of your selection.
You can now play the prestigious Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, the host of the 2023 Ryder Cup. Additionally, you have the opportunity to participate in the Ryder Cup on other iconic courses that have previously hosted the event, including Kiawah Island, Oak Hill, The Country Club, and Whistling Straits.
Season 6 brings exciting updates to the Pro Pass*, allowing you to earn the coveted "MultiVerse" gear set for either team USA or Europe. If you complete the Pro Pass, you’ll also earn Scottie Scheffler's Ball Spec in the free tier, while the premium tier unlocks a brand new Titleist SM9 Custom Team USA or Europe Wedge. Just like last season, you’ll earn tokens to level up your Pro Pass by completing live Quests, Ryder Cup Challenges, and playing rounds in Online, Tournaments, and Career modes. In Season 6, new Quest types have been added to reward your participation in Ryder Cup formats, including Match Play, Foursomes, and Four-Ball.
Playing in the Ryder Cup takes on many forms throughout Season 6, depending on which mode you choose: Online, Tournaments, Challenges, Quick Play, or Private Match. But regardless of which mode you choose, we wanted to make sure that every round feels like the Ryder Cup. When you start a round, you’ll hear the Ryder Cup anthem and commentary that brings you into the action. Throughout the round, you’ll hear the crowd chanting for their favorite team and notice the more dedicated fans that dressed up for the occasion. Because the crowd is such an essential part of the Ryder Cup, we made sure to expand the game’s capabilities so you can now play with crowd enabled in any of the turn-based formats across Online and Private Match modes.
We are excited to announce that 2v2 team formats Foursomes and Four-Ball are now available to play in Online and Private Match modes. In Online mode, you can choose whether to matchmake by yourself or invite a friend and compete as a team. Note that your team USA or Europe affiliation is purely visual and has no effect on who you can compete with or against in Online or Private Match. In these Ryder Cup formats, you’ll always see your partner wearing the uniform of your team, while your opponents will be wearing the uniform of the opposing team.
Online leaderboards now feature updated filters for tracking performance in Foursomes and Four-Ball formats. Additionally, a new "Top 100 Teams Leaderboard" tracks the performance of each unique team of player pairs.
Challenges mode is also getting into the spirit of the Ryder Cup. New challenge series have been added, showcasing history from the 1991, 1995, 1999, and 2020 Ryder Cups. You can also look forward to Challenges for the 2023 Ryder Cup that will be released after the event.
Weekly and Seasonal Tournaments are also Ryder Cup themed and are hosted at Marco Simone or any of the other historic Ryder Cup courses. These tournaments also mark the introduction of crowds for the first time.
You can also play any of the Ryder Cup formats in Quick Play, with friends or AI players in any combination that suits your preference.
We are also raising the max level for created golfers from 50 to 60. In order to support this update, note that the OVR calculation has been adjusted to fit this scale to avoid player OVRs entering into the 100’s. Players at a lower OVR likely won’t notice much change, but unfortunately players at a high OVR will see their rating reduced.
There have also been some improvements to the zoom camera. The low-view putting zoom camera’s accuracy has been improved and can now be moved all the way back to the ball, allowing you to read the entire putt without changing your aim location. The zoom camera now smoothly transitions between zoom camera heights without resetting its orientation, providing a more immersive and less disorienting experience.

On October 24th, EA SPORTS™ PGA TOUR™ will get an update which includes a new season, Halloween themed gear and cosmetics, and many highly requested features and bug fixes. Read on to learn about all the details about the update.
Welcome to Season 7!
The season, Halloween has come to EA SPORTS™ PGA TOUR™ with new themed gear and cosmetics. Season 7 Pro Pass** includes seasonal content such as Scottie Scheffler’s Signature Wood Spec in the free tier, while the premium tier includes Halloween themed gear and apparel such as the Trick or Tee Driver. Throughout the season you’ll earn tokens to level up your Pro Pass by completing live Quests and playing rounds in Online, Tournaments, and Career modes.
Menus, screens, and key art have been updated to replace the Ryder Cup theming with the original Masters theme.
Online playlists have been updated to replace the Ryder Cup Foursomes and Match Play formats with standard Foursomes and Match Play formats that include a wider variety of courses. Ryder Cup formats have also been removed from Private Match due to technical limitations of having them available during a non-Ryder Cup season, but we will be looking to bring them back in a future update. Ryder Cup formats remain available in Quick Play.
One of the most noticeable visual improvements in this update is that 3D grass now reacts when it collides with the ball, club, or golfer. Here’s an example of what it looks like in gameplay.
Many quality of life updates and bug fixes were prioritized for this patch. Highlights include improving AI’s ability around the green, fix for the divot flying before the ball is hit in online gameplay, and fixes for how AI playing partner is selected in Career mode.
Lastly, there has been an issue affecting Challenges where stars sometimes wouldn’t be received in the first attempt, but would work after the player restarts the challenge. We believe this issue has been fixed with this update, but will continue to monitor results to confirm.
Thank you for your continued support!

- Fixed an issue where if a player remains idle for multiple holes in online Four-Ball, they are now kicked immediately after their final timeout instead of waiting until the next hole-out occurred.
- Career:
- Multiple fixes for how the AI playing partner is selected. The logic now ensures that the closest AI player in the leaderboard is selected and your player’s tee time is not affected by which AI playing partner was selected. - Fixed the "End of Career" pop-up so that the “Restart Career” option now functions correctly.

Take a look at upcoming changes coming to EA SPORTS PGA TOUR.
On November 21st, EA SPORTS™ PGA TOUR™ will receive an update that includes a new season, a number of gameplay improvements, and game-wide bug fixes. Read on to learn about what’s coming next.
Welcome to Season 8!
The “Short” aiming arc setting has been replaced with two new options: “Long” and “Tour”. “Long” functions the same as “Short”, but shows a slightly longer ball flight than “Short”. “Tour” only shows the ball flight to the apex and it does not include the effects of wind, slope, or lie penalty. “Long” is now the default setting for Arcade and Pro gameplay styles and “Tour” is now the default setting for Tour gameplay style. Apart from checking your gameplay settings, you can tell which aiming arc you’re using by its length or by noticing that “Long” sways in the wind while “Tour” does not. Here’s an example of what the new “Tour” arc looks like in gameplay.
The capabilities of the Putting skill have expanded so that it now affects the scale of the Putting Grid. Golfers with a lower Putting skill will see a Putting Grid with larger grid squares, while golfers with a higher Putting skill will see a Putting Grid with smaller grid squares. This is intended to simulate a golfer’s ability to read greens.
Shot dispersions for these shot types have been updated:
- Pick: Increased shot dispersion length and slightly decreased shot dispersion width for lower skilled golfers.`
- Blast: Decreased overall shot dispersion.
- Finesse: Increased overall shot dispersion.
- Knock Down: Decreased shot dispersion length.
- Stinger: Decreased shot dispersion width.
Due to the volume of gameplay changes that have been made this season, the cost of retraining skills has been reduced from 200 to 50 Reward Points per Skill Point.
Gameplay visuals have also seen a couple of noteworthy improvements. The rotation of the ball model has been updated to be more realistic and no longer appears to sometimes spin as the ball stops rolling. Note that this change has no effect on ball physics, it only affects the visuals of the ball. Also, the putt meter is now brighter so that it has improved visibility on courses with lightly colored greens such as The Country Club.
Pro Pass has been paused for this season, but will be returning in Season 9 with new content.
Online and Tournaments modes have been updated to allow any number of random holes to be selected for a round. Going forward, this will be used in 4, 6, and 9 hole Daily Tournaments so that holes are randomly selected for each Tournament instead of using the same sequence of holes. In Online formats, 9 holes will now be randomly selected instead of only playing the front or back nine.
Lastly, we’re expanding Online formats on PC only to allow players to use 3-Click Swing Mechanic when playing with Pro gameplay style.
