@Noya_Wesa and @ELF014 I agree with your posts that research was needed from past incarcerations. The Tiger Woods PGA Tour series was a major part of EA’s rotation. That series could have been the foundation the current game should have learned and build upon. Madden, NHL and FIFA adds features and builds on the foundations of previous versions. I am surprised the current game just started from scratch even though EA owns the intellectual property of the TW series and the developers had access to it.
I probably have more that 10 features but I kept the most obvious ones. Speaking of shot clock, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2011 had options for 10 and 20 seconds for shot clock up to a 60 seconds. I would prefer a shot clock than wait 3 min for AI opponent to make shot. The AI opponent will go in a squat position, then go to shot position, and then stand up again; this cycle repeats until 3 min are up. This is more common in challenge and career modes after the AI makes a bad shot. The 3 min waiting animation evokes some bad imagery because it reminds me of an Immodium AD commercial. This might be a symptom of Assured Impairment.

They had to start from scratch after switching to the Frosbite engine.

@Katybee_1313Madden, NHL and FIFA also switched to Frostbite engine and features still remain. NHL did something very well. NHL’s Swing stick was the mechanics introduced for the Frosbite Engine; but the pre Frostbite mechanics and even the original 1994 mechanics was also retained. Given they own intellectual property for the TW series, EA had a chance to make the TW14 features viable for the Frostbite engine. But they blew it…they blew it. Just paraphrasing a quote Robert De Niro said in Copland.

@PalomaMarvel24, This is not true for NHL. After switching to Frosbite, the NHL game was almost as barebone as EA Rory. EA announced they were back in golf just after 2K announced they sold over 2M copies of 2K21. My guess is that's when they started to work on this EA game, and they spent most resources on contents, courses, apparels, challenges and those specialty shots. I don't think we're going to see an upgrade of swing mechanic in this version of the game. Maybe next game... if they make one and just don't quit again because they're not getting a good return to investment.

I probably overlooked that for NHL because I play the easiest settings with sliders. Thanks for pointing 2K21. Both TW14 and 2K21 had advice from the caddy. The caddy would point out what club to use for each hole. Lando said in ROTJ, “Only the Fighters are attacking; what are the Star Destroyers doing.” The caddies in current game seem nonexistent like those star destroyers.
The swing mechanics and ball physics were better in TW14. The downswing slows down when using the stick; that is reason I shifted to 3-click for Approach and Drive. I am looking forward for next title when bugs get fixed. WWE 2K20 was bad with bugs and 2K waited two years later to deliver a much better product with WWE 2K22. Hope the sequel for PGA Tour follows this path.

Actually I'm pretty sure EA's last golf game was built on the frostbite engine. But their last game was the Rory game.
I never owned it so I can't comment, but it didn't look terrible and I liked how the caddie interacted in the game.
I appeared you could have your caddie actual tend the flag for you. I a feature I really like and wish was available in the current game.

In the TW Series, 2K and Rory, the caddie actually gives advice on what clubs to use. The caddie in this game don’t do much. They are like the mascot of the Buffalo Bills or Philadelphia Eagles cheering you on. Luckily the caddie doesn’t block my view like the crowd when I hit the rough.
