Hello
You remember pga tour? It's a game you made. And it is greatly being neglected by you. This game is far from good. And where are the updates? Do you think you can quit updating the game. And ten just...
You don't have to worry, there will be no more new golf game from EA. After announcing he was firing 650 employees... " Wilson said the company would focus on continuing to invest in its existing gaming franchises attracting large online audiences, including Apex Legends, Battlefield, EA Sports FC, Madden NFL and The Sims. We are also sunsetting games and moving away from development of future licensed IP that we do not believe will be successful in our changing industry."
Large online audiences, that's not golf compared with the other games. And sunsetting games, it's not hard to guess one he was talking about.

Totally right. Games with large audiences like EA FC will still be getting the updates; EA Golf does not fit the bill. Not sure why OP is not excited about PGA Tour 2K25 since lead Dev is now with 2K. It would be better if they add on to previous thread instead of spam the same post at same Bat Time, same Bat Channel.
When some of the top designers, including the lead designer, left EA to work on other golf games, the writing was on the wall the game was going to be abandoned due to lack of interest and poor sales. Golf has become too niche for a big company like EA with shareholders, they want millions users, just not a few thousands.

This quote really stands out. I remembered some Simmers who claimed that golf is a niche sport to justify the game getting more difficult after the Notorious Update 3 got implemented. They even used that argument to request more elements of difficulty to the game such as nerfing the flop shot or making bunkers/rough highly punishing. Some arcade players including me argued that making the current game too niche and more difficult would turn off the casual fanbase; I also mentioned that Simmers would also be turned off if game is not difficult enough. Let’s fast forward about 1.5 years later; the game becomes too niche to be abandoned. To act on every Simmers’ request is not a good idea if getting millions of users is the goal.
golf is not a niche sport. It’s the most played game I the world and participation has also grown significantly since Covid. Combine that with the fact that digital golf games have been around forever including some very popular iterations - notably this very games predecessor and the failure lands squarely on the gameplay of any particular game. Hockey is niche but NHL series has continually been well done and received where golf should have a larger following and fan base with a good game.
