Help
First, let me say that I love the game. I enjoy it very, very much. Thanks to those who created and maintain it. And thanks to those who play with/against me.
That said, I need some help. Because while I am a pretty good player (at least I think I amš¤£ - Iām Minor Prophet988) by the way), I am NOT a gamer. Iām a 50 year old father/grandfather who hadnāt played anything since I was in college until I saw my teenage sons and nephews playing this about 6 months ago. My point being that I might know slightly more than nothing about how this game works.
The help Iām looking for has to do with my feeling that the game has changed over the last 2-3 seasons. Specifically after the aiming arc was shortened (about the time I started to play Tour difficulty almost exclusively). Before that, I felt like I had control over where my ball was going. If I hit a bad shot, I knew the reason (swing, wind, etc). Since then, many times I feel like I have absolutely no control over the golf ball. I hit a significant number of shots that end up in places where Iām left scratching my head (or worseš). I hit drives that appear to be perfect shots into cross winds at 10+mph that in one case will start on line and turn as you would expect while in another case they will not move at all or will start way off line in the direction the wind is blowing and keep turning REALLY hard (like a bad slice/hook). I hit approach shots that do the same, in some cases being or moving 10-15 feet off line in either direction when there is virtually no wind. Its worst on Par 3s, where out of the blue for no apparent reason Iām regularly having my shots go 25-30 ft away from the flag. And the examples I give arenāt merely power drives or finesse shots. This is happening on regular shots. On top of this, I KNOW the distances my shots go have changed. Or that they are far more inconsistent. Iāve tested this and my thoughts about not being able to control the direction of the ball with mulligans on practice rounds. The same shots can/do vary greatly (10+ yds).
Is this just me? Am I wrong? Is there something Iām doing wrong? Is there some setting I have wrong? Or is this totally random? If so, do my opponents have the same number of random ābadā shots I do? And if this is random, why? Because I donāt mind bad shots as long as I can understand it. I donāt like (I hate) not having an explanationš¤£. When the aiming arc first changed, I thought it was just wind miscalculation on my part. But now I think itās much more than that.
