Bought the game this morning from Steam. I tried to play online with a friend but we could not connect up. It said I had no friends online. Do we connect using our Steam nicknames, or do we have to set up something using the EA App? Do we even need the App?
I tried to change my the name that appears on my posts from the all the letters and numbers. I went in to edit profile but couldn't see anything there. How do I do that? Again, do I need the EA app to do it?
I thought I had posted this question but I don't see it in the forum under General Questions.
My friend and I tried to connect up to play online. I typed in his EA ID number but no luck. It said I had no friends online. Do we use our Steam names?

Sims does not have a multiplayer (without mods). Are you talking about Sims or a different game?

For finding friends online are both of you using Steam?
For playing with friends in something like a private match, you can create the match, select your golfer, then you should eventually get to a screen where you can hit a + to add a player.
Above the Start Game button, you should get the option to invite a friend, this will pull up a social window to send an invite.

Yes both of us bought our games on Steam. We did follow the procedure you detailed the other day and my avatar was on the first tee of the course. My friend never made it in to the game. We will try again. We have custom selected our difficulty, basically the same as Sim level.
