- @annoyed999 I think we all agree considering you have the option for different length of rough. None of the hazards are very hazardous.
YES. That's what I've been saying since the beginning. There is no penalty if you miss a fairway. There needs to be more of a penalty for hitting in a hazard like 2K23.

Agree. I have two created golfers at 50.
The first one I only put power high enough to get the bronze power drive (5-6 maybe?). And then pretty much maxed all accuracy with decently high control and recovery and 6 putting.
The second I went gold power shot. Then like 7 accuracy on everything. Middling control. No recovery. And 8 putting.
Guess witch one is more effective? The second. Why? Just bomb and wedge from the rough. Even though I miss the fairway 10% more with the big hitter, the lack of penalty from the rough makes the distance a HUGE advantage.

I would prefer this to be an option to turn off/on for non-competitive modes only. For multiplayer and competitive modes, I am fine having this turned on.
I have a concern that RNG could over exaggerate the penalty where the ball physics resembles kicker Ryan Succop shanking an extra point short. There was someone who mentioned moaning in another post. I would bet I would see a post complaining about the penalty shot having the power of Succop missing extra points way short if the implementation turns sideways. Chris Berman made a quote on Ryan Succop where his name describes the way he plays.

There are three levels of length I think for each cut of rough, so it could be controlled there.
I always played at tournament conditions, and like we have all experienced on most courses the effect is minimal if at all on the tournament settings. So why even have the two lower settings available.
The funny thing is that I have known people who have played a few days after a PGA event and have been told that coming out of heavy rough you are lucky to advance the ball 40 yards.

Depends on the course, but certainly true in some cases.
Not every course on tour has penalizing rough, but it sure would be nice if the courses that do actually had it on this game.
Certainly US and British Open setups should have very penal shots once you are outside of the first cut. Augusta? Not so much. The whole place is beautiful carpeted fairway, but rough was never meant to be what makes Augusta a challenge.
It’s just a bummer that if I go into the gorse at St. Andrews that I can easily hit my approach like nothing matters. @7AnimalMotherAbsolutely agree that it would be different depending on the course. But with multiple levels of rough for both cuts of rough, I would hope it would play differently in the game.
It doesn't really matter where the ball ends up unless you are in water, a deep bunker where you cannot clear the face or behind a tree, you will have access to the green.
It kind of takes a lot of the course management out of the game. For all the talk about making this game a realistic experience... and feeling like you are playing as a pro. I'm not seeing it.I agree that the rough isn't penal enough, even with low recovery skill levels. Generally the only time when being off the fairway actually stops me reaching the green in regulation is if there is a tree or the face of a bunker in the way. Well, other than landing in the water!
