Make Sim Level More Difficult

I bought EA Sports PGA and 2K23 about a couple of weeks apart last month.  So far I have played 25 hours of 2K23 at Masters Level which is the second most difficult level.  I have played 16 hours of EA Sports PGA Tour at a custom with the swing and putting difficulty on hard which is what it is at Sim.  No putt meter but with the grid and beads.

My best score on 2K23 is 85 while after 3 full rounds of EA I shot a 73, one over par on Banff Springs.  Obviously Banff Springs is one of the easier courses but in my opinion, Sim level has to be made tougher.  I hit every fairway except for one.  For putting, maybe remove the distance marker so it is all feel, same for chips and pitches.  The flop shot is almost automatic.  I used it in one of the challenges to hit five of five greens.

Doesn't seem to be any tempo requirement for drives and approach shots.  During my round at Banff I hit one approach to the left of the green because I intentionally moved the stick more to the left to counter the wind.

The full swing in 2K23 is much faster and more difficult and you can get some crazy mishits like hitting the driver 125 yards, equivalent to topping the ball in real golf.  However another factor that makes 2K23 tougher is that all  rough has a penalty of around 40% loss of power which I don't think is realistic.  In that regard EA only has this type of penalty in some spots well off the fairway.

As I have said before, this game has a lot of potential and hope the developers continue to listen to feedback from players and make improvements and changes.

  • They won’t change the swing mechanics fundamentally like you’ve suggested it’s too embedded into the code of the game

2k and EA are 2 completely different golf games and shouldn’t be compared

Well, there are basically only two golf games to choose from so why wouldn't you compare EA Sports PGA to 2K23?  My comment concerned the full swing and making it more difficult so you don't hit the fairway 90% of the time.  They could tweak it by making the required timing more precise.  The short game such as chipping, pitches, bunkers shots and flops is way more realistic then 2K23 so the only thing I would say there is that the flop shot is a little too accurate.
