I'm part of a group of 10 guys who have been playing online golf every Friday night for over 12 years. Only a couple of us have purchased EA PGA golf as without a turnbased multiplayer it just isn't much fun. I hope EA is seriously considering adding this feature. It's been in every computer golf game we've played for almost 25 years, how EA missed that it's a core reason most of us play online golf games is baffling.

They first will need to add multiplayer, atm it's as good as non-existent.
But yea agreed.

Massive oversight they will add countless sales if they add this feature can't believe they have not included it
- tuckermaine13 years agoRising Veteran@SamA329 So I can’t play online w/ my created player against my friend and his created player….?
- 3 years ago@tuckermaine1 You can but you play against them in asynchronous, independent fashion. You can sort of self regulate your play based on the order of play rules of golf (whoever is furthest away from the hole is next to hit). If you know your opponent is furthest away, you can rotate your aim to where your opponent is and watch them play their shot (if they're away), and if you're really adept with the controls, turn and track the shot after it's hit. Then it will be your turn to hit and your opponent can turn and watch you... if desired.
It takes a lot of effort to do this and it's pretty cumbersome to execute if you're trying to actually see your opponent before, during, and after their shot if you're tracking it, but it's there. It requires a bit of communication to make sure you're in agreement as to who's away, and where you're actually at on the course.
If they did ever introduce turn base play to this game, I'd like to have the option to watch my opponent from where my golfer would be standing in real life, and have the camera track his shot from that point of view. I always felt the sense of immersion is spoiled when I'm watching my opponent hit their shot from their swing camera.
PGA TOUR 2K23 does a pretty good job with this as their turn base multiplayer at least offers an option to stand off at like a 45 degree angle behind, and to either side of your opponent. It even tracks the shot from that perspective which really adds a unique and experience selling perspective.- tuckermaine13 years agoRising Veteran
Thank you for the detailed answer it was helpful, but Wow, why Ea did this is beyond me …think I’ll hold off on purchase

Having played golf games for quite a while(Golden Bear Challenge anyone?), I think those making golf games now don't really understand some of what made golf games fun. As I generally don't play online, this was my biggest issue with the Golf Club(now PGA 2K..) just even offline. I just want to play a round of golf and not feel like I'm playing alone. If a friend wasn't
around to play, I'd pick their created player they created when they were over and play against them. I would ask HB Studios every year if they added AI players. "No but we have even better....you can see these cool ball trails 🥳". It looks like with this game you can't do that either, but at least you can pick a pro to play against. Be nice if you play against a friends created player and it just applies AI to it.
It sounds like that's what they do online with EA PGA Tour 2023? I think I saw a video where all these ball trails are flying around everywhere where it looked like you were in the middle of a laser light show lol. What is so hard about understanding people want to play a game of golf like they would in real life? You take a shot and watch the person you're playing with(real or AI) take their shot. What happened in the last few years where all of a sudden ball trails are in vogue???
More befuddling is they have a store where they keep adding new clothes etc etc, but you are never seen in them? I would think that's what a lot would enjoy, especially online where you can show off the cool shirt, or new putter or whatever you just bought from the store.

YES!

Game wasn’t ready but they had to release it to
coincide with the masters tournament. Hence the bare bones of multiplayer and the bug ridden career.

Yes.
It's such a glaring missing part of the game. The TW series 10+ yrs ago had amazing multiplayer lobbies compared to this.
30fps on console and no real online multiplayer modes are really unacceptable in 2023.
