I have always struggled with this under/over swing concept. How can you hit the the ball over 100% of what you are capable of?
Unless 100% is supposed to be a controlled smooth swing. In that case it might make sense to me to have an overswing area... but then it should really put a premium on the swing path where any deviation should be multiplied exponentially.
I personally have thought the swing mechanics are inconsistent, I have seen under swings go to far... and over swings be well short. Though I will admit short shots appear more likely from my experience, but it has been about 4 weeks since this game has been in my PS5.
I still come to the forum to keep abreast of what is going on, it seems nothing has changed. Other than people waking up and smelling the coffee.
To me it has always made sense for exactly the reason you are conjecturing: 100% equals smooth controlled swing. 105% means you are trying to murder it and shoulder turning more than your normal consistent, effective swing.
I'd also submit there IS a bit of a premium on the path for overswings. Certainly, in my experience, the ball will go further offline if you overswing and deviate from the path as opposed to underwing deviations.
I know from other posts you started playing with spec less golfers without attributes applied. When I see a lot of posts about inconsistent swings and RNG, I always wonder where people are in the game, because while I would certainly agree that sub level 50/no specs there is a considerable amount of RNG, I'm really not seeing it after.
