I don't mind the idea of what they are doing with the grid, but I do think it's silly to implement it now, more than 7 months after the game came out.
I have only had the game since August, and have most skills pretty much beefed up to the point where I am going to have a tiny, micro-focused grid from the get-go of this new patch. Only new players are going to have the large grid boxes. And since most shots accumulate around and on the green, this is going to make the game much harder for new players than it is for anyone who's had the game for a reasonable amount of time. I'd imagine anyone who's had the game since launch will be fully skilled out, too...not to mention there will be those, like you, who don't use grids at all, who will not be impacted by this change.
As usual, the concept makes sense in general, but the execution (and timing) is a little strange.
IF, and that's a big IF, EA makes another golf game, I'm sure the concept will be different. This one is TW11 on steroids with RNG. Anyway, I still prefer this game than 2K23 where the swing is on steroids, I find it way too fast over there. They should have a much slower swing for us girls at 2K, I would mess up my back after 2 swings in real life. A girl would lose her eye lash extensions with that swing at 2K.

I'm absolutely agree with your assessment of the swing speed in the 2K game. If you get a chance to purchase 2K2019 for a cheap price I would suggest you try it. I find the swing mechanics too easy... but the swing speed and putting mechanics excellent. Though the green speeds are rather slow.
If the 2K23 game had EA's or 2K2019 swing speed I'd be a pretty happy guy overall. 2K23 still wouldn't be perfect... but it would get me a lot closer.

I agree that current game’s RNG is on steroids compared to TW11; I would take TW11 anytime over current game. As a 3-Clicker, the current game’s RNG, especially in Cardi Creek, is taking more PEDs than Mark MacGwire, Jose Canseco, and Kamila Valieva combined. When I last played, I was fully speced with 99 OVR, but I still felt the RNG. The RNG feels more different for 3-clickers compared to analog users. When I first played 2K23, the swing was frantic like a Ramones Song and I felt rushed like playing a game of the 007 film “No Time to Die”. After playing 2K23 again 6 months later, I turned off the swing timing and set to 3-click. I never looked back.

The ball was going somewhere in the circle, but when hitting perfect-perfect, I'm so used to see the ball going straight to where I'm aiming.

For fully speced 3-clickers, the RNG varies by course. It was possible to get ball going straight with perfect-perfect in flat courses like any of the TPC courses like TPC Scottsdale. On average, the ball landed somewhere in the circle with perfect perfect shot for winds below 8mph. In Cardi Creek, Chamber’s Bay, East Lake, or Southern Hills at winds above 8mph, the ball acted like a drunk skydiver who landed miles away from the target even if the swing was perfect perfect.

On one hand, EA is still working to make changes on this game. It's kind of giving me warm fuzzies on the future of the franchise. Like maybe there will be another game made in the future, we won't have to wait years. And if it's the case, I'm sure there will be many of the changes we wanted in here in a new game.

I wish they wouldn't change my settings after a patch though. Here I tried to putt and nothing was happening... to find out my putting was change to the right stick.
