And on the PC they did. Its over, literally noone is playing on the pc online when a couple months ago the game was literally growing. I'm absolutely infuriated i wasted a whopping 80 dollars for this obvious bare bones cash grab that ea apparently resents so much they are literally sabotaging it.. Who the fk is going to sit here and hit the que button every 2 mins for an hour. You guys want development of the courses and physics biut that won't continue to happen with no players buying the game... and that comes from communities of people playing together online. period.
What you say is partly true. But have you considered the reason no one is playing the game is because the majority of players are NOT interested in playing an arcade golf game?
Communities and online features don't matter if the game isn't worth playing.
I know that many complain about how difficult/unplayable 2K is... I disagree and have always felt they included something for everyone if you wanted to adjust some game settings. Plus if it is so unplayable, why is everyone still playing it?
I don't know how many more forks EA is going to keep sticking in their game. I thought it was pretty much done on arrival.
People on this forum have been making suggestions on the betterment of this game since the day it released. And it was clear back then, and even more so now the developers have their own agenda and no clue on how to create a good golfing environment in a golf game.
It's like the Chargers of the NFL, I don't know how with so many resources available to you... to make things worse with every update? I think it is pretty obvious the head coach needs to go.
I have to disagree - the majority of my circle (ok, all of my circle) are waiting for the stable arcade version of the game. The themes, rotating game modes and minimal lobbies drove them away. There is a huge crowd that wants to live vicariously through this game and get the rush of being able to hole out to make the difference in a game instead of just hoping the other player messes up. Amateur should allow you to use muscle memory to repeat a shot - wind, elevation and swing should be the variables and not putting a ghost in the machine to make you fallible.

Nope, not even a consideration because I played every golf game on the pc since ea's first golf game, world tour golf, in 1986. I was part of huge communities playing pg tour franchise up to tw08 on the pc. All my friends and family played, we even met up with people we met online through the game in real life. This is an e-sport, period. The only suggestions that could better this game, are those that encourage fair play and competitive matchups and social interactions. Catering to people who want to play the most realistic sim they can offline by themselves, is why the game is dying. And when we say dying, we are of course referring to the number of players we see in the online tournaments and and online qeues. There is literally no other gauge.
Even the forums are dead, when the game first came out there tons of more people on the forums calling for turn based match play as the biggest request which EA ignored for months before implementing online in a half * way. now the only people left are guys like you and elf calling this game mario cart. crazy...

Just noticed that, even if you have aiming arcs and everything off, you now get the orange icon on screen if you're going to hit a tree or something. Can that be turned off now somewhere? I'd prefer to play with a more "sim" style and as clean a screen as I can.

I heard someone complain it shows up if the lip of a fairway bunker is in the way as well.
I would love for them to allow us to disable as much as we wanted from the screen. To allow us find a playing environment thst suits us. Rather than pigeonhole us in their presets.
As I have said... the developers don't seem to understand there is a whole other segment of players out there who are highly skilled at playing these games and don't require or want all these assists.
Having watched them play in some of the online videos, they really are on the lower end as being able to be successful at the game.

Have been playing a few holes at St Andrews, where lie ranges and "resistance" was supposedly changed in the patch...I have seen basically no difference. I am still getting 92-97% lies in knee-high grass when using Approach or Finesse shots, and am still getting 100% lies when using the "Hack".

I am still trying the understand the purpose of multiple rough depths that you adjust in the game for the primary and secondary cut. When percentage loss doesn't seem to matter.

The news that they were finally going to start increasing the lie penalties and "resistance" as they put it, on St. Andrews with this patch, was very exciting to many of us. I guess that means for them to increase the ridiculously easy rough and tall grass issues, they have to do it one course at a time. It was encouraging to see in the patch notes that they were addressing this with St. Andrews first.
However, at least at this point, it seems to be a total non starter. See this link at Operation Sports for very specific screen shots and situations where I tried purposely to hit into the nastiest stuff at St. Andrews, and never saw less than 93-97% lie, with any shot type or club. It just *didn't get changed*. Very, very disappointing.

I love this game and play it every day, over 450 hours at this point since pre launch. The most glaring issue with the game at this point, other than not being able to play on the couch with your friend or wife as created players, is how there is literally no penalty or "resistance" for hitting the ball in the rough, let alone weeds up to your chest at places like St. Andrews (and every other course). I was encouraged when I saw they were addressing this with this patch, but after 3 hours of trying to prove myself wrong about how it didn't change anything, it's obvious nothing has changed with the lie penalties at St. Andrews.
