I think people feel because the rough and sand is more punishing in 2k23 that means its more "sim" like and has better physics. But that is not what physics or sim-like mean to me. lol

Rough and sand should affect your shot. Having grass between the ball and the grooves of you club limits the amount of spin you can impose.
In deep rough and buried lies it hampers your ability to get your club face on the ball. In EA, there are few courses and lies where you don't have a perfect lie... no matter where your ball is.
Even in an arcade game I expect some loss of yardage in a bad lie.

I agree but that has nothing to do with the ball physics of the game. Complaining about lipouts and the way the ball rolls and trying to claim its better than 2k23 which looks like it has graphics from 1998, is extremely disingenuous. and imo, downright suspicious lol.

I think you need to define what you think ball physics are.
My definition is how a ball reacts to contact... bounces and rolls.
In EA the ball does not react well out of rough or sand (little to no penalty)... and the rollouts are ridiculous on mid to long irons.
I have never been one to claim I can spin a 5-iron and stop it on a dime on a green IRL, like some people on forums. But I have never had a ball land on the front edge of a green and have it run the length of a flat green over an embankment another 30 yards through rough into the bush either. Something about this game isn't right.
And I can't explain the inconsistent reaction with short irons (spin no spin), and the ridiculous spin on some short game shots (flop and pick). As bad as the rollout is with mid to long irons... it is ridiculously slow for putting. I don't expect the arborite type putting surfaces of the PGA Tour... but putting like you are on a shag carpet isn't right.
As for the reactions with what is happening with the cup... we call that cup physics.

reacts has nothing to do with the game physics because that has nothing to do with yoru graphics drivers. How the ball bounces and rolls definitely is part of the physics and graphics drivers, and I find it extremely, I mean downright fraudulent to claim 2k23 has better physics. Its so hilarious you complain about "arcade" like games, meanwhile 2k23 is the ultimate arcade game especially how everyone holds down fastforward, putts into the flagstick on the green, and they have all these attribute boosters to your equipment and golfer that goes way beyond what EA allows. i've always played EA games and 2k23 is definitely the cornest and most arcade like game ever. SO I mean if EA takes anything you have to say seriously, they are either falling for a troll or knowingly undermining their own games potential success. Shame on you and them. Because the graphics and physics have nothing to do with why 2k23 is more popular.
