PC Mouse Swing Control

Hello, I'm considering buying this game but as a PC player I want to know if I can control my swing with the mouse. And no, I don't mean that prehistoric 3-click nonsense. I mean use my mouse as you use the stick on a controller. Such as you can with 2k23.

I saw that upon release this fundamental control method for PC users was omitted. Unbelievably. However  having been out for almost a year, surely this has been fixed?

It's important that I know because no mouse swing, no purchase and I will by 2k's game instead.

  • No mouse swing, and you won't get one either. It looks like the game has been abandoned by EA, probably due to poor sale numbers, and you will have to continue to buy 2K if you want a new golf game.

Thank you for your reply. Since I posted that I thought I would check to see if the game has online voice chat. Again, another glaring omision. The entire point of a golf game for me is a Friday night chillout with a few cold ones and a chat with a round of golf.

So, no mouse control and you can't chat with your mates or meet new people. It really gives me no choice. The two most important features are missing so I will have to go with 2k.

No wonder sales are low. You can make the game as beautiful as you want but if you can't play it and play it whilst having a laugh with people then your game isn't fun, EA.

It astonishes me that this needs to be pointed out.

    What a shame.

Like somebody else said, this game was not originally made for PC, just for PS5 and XBox X - S.  Game was announced to be available on PC only after the one year delay. On PS5, we can easily used the party chat feature on consoles. And we had the same on PS4.

  • The game was abandoned due to poor sales numbers?

Well, no wonder! EA basically ignored the entire PC market. (And contrary to one of the above comments, the 2023 version was definitely touted as being available for both PlayStation and PC, with both versions ultimately released at roughly the same time).

As for the controller crowd all suggesting to "just play on a controller", I'm happy they are satisfied, but that doesn't mean the rest of us need to be. A lot of PC gamers strongly prefer using keyboard and mouse controls for pretty much any game. But in my opinion, ESPECIALLY when it comes to golfer/games looking to play a golf simulation on the PC, twiddling controller sticks --no matter how much controller fans argue for the differences in "skill" involved -- just can't give anywhere near as satisfying a golf-stroke like "feel" as a mouse stroke can.

In short, many of us PC players were looking forward to playing on a whole host of the gorgeous courses, including LPGA tour elements (another selling point nfor me) for which EA negotiated exclusive licensing rights. Only for EA's up-front misrepresenation, and frankly utter lack of any serious investment in the PC platform at all, to leave us sorely dissapointed at launch day. I can't be the only such person who pre-purchased, in part very much on the basis of the hyped of availability of keyboard and mouse play on PC, and then ended up refunding the game on day one when it became clear that ZERO effort had been put into making the game meaningfully playable that way.

Actually, the game was supposed to be released in 2022 for only PS5 and XBox X-S. It was then delayed for one year for release in 2023, that's when we were told it would also be available for PC.  Anyway, it was a waste of time to make the game for PC, there was like only 35,000 sales for forever until the guys on EA Play finally got the game months later.  By then, the lead designer and other devs were already gone working for 2K. Even now, with the game basically given away for $12 for a while, there's only 63,000 download. Peanuts, a pure commercial failure and a waste of development resources.
