Playing on PC and I get this too. No matter what you do, the first shot never counts.
I have switched it to the Driver, and also changed the shot type off and back onto driver before taking the shot.
320+ yards and on the fairway, and the first shot always returns as 0/5.
Every other shot will count and you top out at 4 /5 so you can never get this star.
Make sure you always have a driver in hand and use Drive shot, as the game wants to give you a 3-wood, switch to 3-click and you will have no problem going in the red every time. It just a matters to always hit the fairway as they don't count if it's not in the fairway.
