@Ultrasonic_77I agree I like this and Evian... for the variety. A lot of the courses feel like standard fair without much character to them.
I always hoped that at one point EA, would round out all the courses for a complete PGA schedule. But I never expected this to be done on opening day. I thought they did a pretty good job with what was released... except I didn't understand the choice of the 2 fantasy courses or the par 3 course. Especially when it was reported it took as long to create as a regular 18 hole course as it did the par 3 course. I would rather have another 18 hole PGA stop.
But I do feel the game doesn't seem to play very realistic. Between the terrible swing mechanics, awful ball and cup physics this is a mediocre game.
We play without the grids and my playing partners complain all the time about being unable to see the breaks on the greens (I would have to agree for the most part). I like the feel and speed of the swing itself... but that's about it. After the ball comes off the club face I spend a lot of the time as a spectator, since I never feel in full control of my shots.
I mean the game looks like golf... it just doesn't play like it in my opinion. I have never played links courses in England... but do they really roll forever like how they are represented in this game?

This is of courses 100% realistic but the game does give you the option of post-hit control if you really want it.... I'm confident this isn't what you had in mind though 🙂.
Re. British (not specifically English as I bet you had St Andrews at least partly in mind, which is Scottish) I do feel the game's roll is exaggerated. There's plenty of footage on e.g. YouTube for you to make up your own mind though. A slight complicating factor in EA's favour is that our player characters do end up being able to hit further than the real life pros which will in turn to lead to more unrealistic roll-out.

I'm getting ridiculous roll out with a stock character with no skill points or specs. The thing that is hard to judge is the inconsistency in the game. A driver in the fairway that rolls forever... vs a 5-iron that will check up on the fairway and stop short of the green.
After 5 months of playing I still have not figured out what causes a wedge to check and stop... vs the same club and yardage spinning back 50 feet off the green. I have seen a ball land past the hole and spin back 40 feet back uphill.
I want to like this game more, but with all the quirks it doesn't feel like a golf sim. It's just a something that looks like a golf game. I think Hot Shots Golf may even have better physics than this.

At the risk of telling you things you know, a strong headwind sounds like the most likely cause there? There will be differences between courses too, as well as shot type making a difference.

No wind... standard approach shot. With a stock character... I don't have many shot types available to me.
The game is definitely a little quirky.
