Its also true that the anonymity in online gaming, and the fact even pro e-sport gamers get caught cheating, shows its a huge problem. Many players in the old TW games were what we called "edgers". Some used special mouse drivers to lock the axis, others actually used hard edges like sides of keyboards and rulers and didn't even consider that cheating since they weren't using a software program.
Back in the old days of fps games we also had dedicated servers and admins to keep their servers to a certain "skill level". But then DDOS attacks become so powerful that we couldn't' have nice things anymore. We could no longer ban players from our server who were "too good". Because they now had the ability to lag out the server or completely take it offline out of spite. Now we got servers hosted by the game company themselves with matchups based on mmr's which is literally all a facade. Because players make multiple accounts and even sync drop with others to undermine it all. . Popular e-sport games like Counterstrike and League of Legends, who coined the derogatory terms "smurfing" and "team stacking" to shame cheaters also have lost their popularity due to the cheating. For guys like me pc gaming literally died over 15 years ago and only exists in asia now. NA gaming has been destroyed long ago. All the cheating in pga tour games started back in 2005, right when they added the mouse control. It sent everything down hill and birthed many many cheaters that still are playing till this day.
What I do like about this new pga tour game, and unlike other games like 2k sports golf, is that the controller use at pro level is really not that bad once you get to a certain level. Its really hard not to hit a straight line with the analog stick, and even then alot of the game is determined by your pre calculations. So it really lessens the impact of alot of people cheating with software on their swings at least. I bought this game knowing there would be cheaters just dominating the leaderboards making a mockery of the game. And lets face it, no normal human would consider that fun or productive to literally have no competition. SO that in itself is suspicious. If that was me I'd be complaining the game was too easy, but I digress. I bought the game because I was happy that EA Sports is at least making another pc golf game, even though its missing tons of features from the past and pc gaming is a dead as rocks in NA, I'm investing in future development with my fingers crossed.
