Possible Cheaters in PGA Tour? High scores or leaving game

if you admitted to being an edger to me in game I sure would of.   As for getting scores like that,  if I was you I wouldn't even want to play the game.  That wouldn't be productive or fun for me.  Most normal people like a challenge and competitive matches.   In real life "pwning noobs"  is not respectable or honorable no matter how you look at it.  The difference is in real life you are not anonymous nor can you easily change and save face.     There is no such thing as a "cheating score"  but it would be suspicious if nothing more.  And still a reason why most of the community would not even want to play with you.   

See back in the old days of gaming,  where millions were literally playing counterstrike.   We had dedicated servers and admins who would regulate fair play themselves.   If you were "too good"   there was nothing morally wrong with telling you take a hike.   Heck even in real life tournaments of all sorts some players are banned from competing because they are just "too good". For example Rock Steady DJ's were banned from the world championship DJ competition many times cause they were "too good".      In the old pga tour pc games users could set limits to who could join their tournaments as well.  If you were playing in a noob level tournament,  that right there would show a severe lack of sportsmanship and respect fo the community,  which again is suspicious if nothing more.  It goes to your character on the whole.

I don't think people realize that the digital realm is just an extension of the physical.  The same principles, and eventually,  laws will apply.  And noone is fooling anyone.  You just as see through as you would be in real life for all the same reasons.

it depends.   are you cheating?   Cheating is doing anything to increase your score that undermines the intentions, or not intended by the developers or community members setting the rules of a tournament.   So for example the thing that destroys online gaming in general.  Is using alt accounts to hide your identity.

One form of cheating EA needs to get right on top of right now.  Is players leaving losing competitive matches to avoid the loss on their record and deny a win for their opponent.

Sloaner has been a great player for a long time in several games.  You can watch his gameplay on YouTube if you would like to see the difference between a gamer and a complainer.  Outside of sitting next to someone playing the game you can’t be convinced.  The top players in the world are just good at this game period.  I know them and have played with them for years.  If anyone is doing any of things you have been posting about, they are not the ones at the top of the leaderboards. Touch grass.

This, ive played with and against top players on Xbox over the years and as you say, they are just very very good. A lot of it is down to knowing how many notches up/down/left/right to move the aim to account for wind and lie, mathematics essentially. Hitting consistent swing isnt hard either, I dont think ive hit an actual mis-hit swing yet on this game, and most shots are at least 99% power. 

ive found a lot of the lesser quality players dont read the courses properly, not every drive requires the driver etc, not every par 5 should be hit in 2 shots, not every approach pin seeking. Having green knowledge too, where best to put the ball for certain pin positions so the putt is easier.

Exactly.  Most players just smash their driver and leave a 60 yard shot with a 15 MPH wind in their face and then wonder why they came up short and spun off the green… Rather than lay back with a club with little spin, do the math and leave yourself a 5 foot putt.  But, in this fantasy thread we all are using popsicle sticks and rubber bands to kill time and climb the leader board. The good players could care less about rankings.  Just want a competitive match.  And I have seen a bunch of players worth noting in this thread who are just good… Mega, Igloo, CCC, Sloaner to name a few.  No disrespect to those I didn’t mention.  It’s just a video game.

Yeah man 100%... 8 or 9 iron is king for approach shots, ill even hit a 4/5 iron off the tee on some holes, the 1st at Pebble Beach being a prime example, why risk the dog leg and narrow fairway by blasting it when you can just Nick Faldo style long iron off the tee and leave an easy approach for birdie chance. 

There have been cheaters in every golf game, basically ever.

Embarrassment of a comment.  You don’t seem to understand you are insulting yourself.  If you can’t play at a high level the default response is “cheater”.  The reality is those who claim that are just bad.  Those who don’t, know there is a skill gap and learn how to play the game correctly.  I don’t know what else to say.  I could literally write a book on how to play EA golf games and it would just get dismissed because players refuse to accept gamers game, complainers complain.  I’m done with this thread.  Hope to see all complainers in a competitive match.  I’ll take the easy wins. ✌🏻

If anyone would like to start a tips of how to play well thread I could see about getting it pinned. I'm sure lots of people would be interested. Not that everyone may want to give away how they do so well 🙂.

I would like a thread like this.  The challenge is many of the players on the no “cheaters” side have been playing competitively together for over 15 years.  That’s a lot of ground to cover.  An example that doesn’t apply to this year is when they didn’t used to tell you how far your ball carried, just total distance.  The good players went into driving range and learned how far every club of bag carried.  Full loft, half loft, 1/4 loft… every club.  They also learned the bounce following the landing for every green speed.  There wasn’t a distance a good player didn’t have a club for.  They removed that from the game by telling you how far it carried as I said, but it is still an example of how good players became good.  An example for this year, I already referenced.  Quit smashing your driver on every hole.  Aim for a flat part of fairway that leaves you a club that has low spin rate.  Do your math and stick it.  This is a basic part of game to some in this thread but seems difficult for others to accept.

Id contribute to a tips and tricks thread, better players = more challenge when playing online, I dont mind that. 

On a sidetone if any of you are on Xbox this is my gamertag, give me a shout if you'd like a game online id be happy to have a blast. Tour mode only though as arcade knocks me white, whilst sim is just a bit too serious.

I'm no way good enough to start a thread offering everyone tips on how to play at the top level 🙂. If a good thread is started then I can ask to see if a kind Community Manager might be minded to pin it, if indeed they haven't already decided to do so. In case it's not obvious I'm a player like you, not a forum moderator with the powers that would typically go with that role. It's generally best to think of Champions/Heros as player advocates I think, because as well as helping to answer questions where we can we also speak up behind the scenes to highlight issues that may apparently not be getting the attention they deserve. 

look a the 4 hole bandon dunes today (4/18/23) 12 under par, and you tell me thats going to happen with a par 5 when that by itself will take TWO 🏈 shots to get there, no chance

Does he have multiple camera angles showing his controls and does he play live?  I remember years ago a brazillian quake player who was banned had to do such a thing to prove to the devs he wasn't cheating.   In many online tournaments now such a camera setup is required.   I've even seen a chess tournament, i believe a meltwater tourney,   where arbiters had to fly to the players houses and sit in their room with them lmao.  Thats how hard it is to 100% stop cheating.

The typical online "git gud"  comment.  Can you imagine Michael Jordan slam dunking on the regular amateur ball players in your local park and saying "git gud".   He would be shunned,  he would have such a horrible reputation he would empty out that park and noone would even want to play with him.  Even 10 year olds in the park want competitive matches.


You do realize people have a sports sense right?   People don't need proof to know a match is suspiciously uncompetitive.   Its also not normal to want to play a game when you have no competition.  That is not even human.  Its not fun or productive,  or even respectable.  The difference with online compared to real life,  is people can make a new identity to save face online,  but in real life they are stuck with the reputation they create forever.  Even professional players have streaks and slumps,  again that is what makes people human.   The reason why ea sports abandoned the pc after 2008,   is not because of people pirating their games like they claimed.   Its because of cheaters,  or players too good,  killing off the player base.   It started when they introduced true swing in 2005.  It was no coincidence and was immediately felt by the playerbase.

Gamers online don't have the same definitions of "competitive"  or even "cheating"  as most people in real life society.  You don't have to just use a program to hit a ball perfect every time to be a cheater.   Just quitting a game is cheating.     Back in the old days games had dedicated servers and good admins would keep their servers to a certain level.   Whether someone is cheating or not they would be banned if they were "too good".  There is nothing immoral about that.  Its why in real life you have different leagues for different level of players all the way from junior high to pro,  or different levels of amateur leagues etc.   When a player uses a different identity to circumvent anything that is designed and intended for fair play.  Its cheating.  Period.     "pwning newbs"  is not competitive.  That is the OPPOSITE of competitive.   And if every sport had a community that supported such ,  every sport would be as dead as pc games in North America.

League of Legends is the one game that got the furthest to becoming accepted by general society.  It had as many people playing as counterstrike did in the mid 2000s.  Millions,  the game was even being played on cable tv.   But its peak popularity didn't last long.   Because  what they called "smurfs"  gradually killed off the player base in NA.  You look up to these guys dominating ea pga tour tournaments over the years?  I look at them as the reason the game died and will die again.  I never played TWO.  I hated it compared to the pga tour series that ended with tiger woods 08.   I was involved in beta and hated its development and criticized it so much EA TIM ended up having me banned across ea's whole platform.  Only time I've ever been banned in a game and it was because of a community mod.    TWO was nothing but a cash grab.   Even this game is an empty shell compared to tiger woods 08 but I'm hoping it improves.  Its much better then TWO ever was.  

But what made old pga tour pc games so popular and amazing.  Was people running their own community leagues and community clubs to keep players to certain levels.  to have fair, fun and competitive matches.   Same reason counterstrike became popular.  Community run leagues,   because those leagues end up being run just like leagues in real life.  

This game is going to die.  Mark My Words.   This game is going to die because noone wants to play in a tournament, or play against other online players.  when they know they have no chance.  Period.   I know this is golf,  but sports is still based on competition.   I'm already seeing a decline,  and alot of that has to do with people quitting when they are losing to deny their opponent a win.  And noone wants to enter a 9 hole tournament with people scoring -13.   cheating or not.  whats the point?  RIP.  And do I blame the guy quitting a match with me if I'm leading him by like 6 strokes?  Of course not but at least give me the win.

In fact if I was one of those guys winning every single tournament I'd have to handicap myself somehow.  Otherwise I would not even find it enjoyable.  Someone who does,  and tells the other players tough luck and "git gud".  Shows an immature and twisted warped and totally uncompetitive character which will always make them look suspicious.

the only time you get a loss if  others stay till the end I believe.   So a foursome and two guys leave.   2 guys get a win and 2 get losses.   if 3 leave.  noone gets nothing.   I could be wrong.  If the game just stopped.  thats YOUR problem.  Get your rig or connection fixed,  and take that honorable loss.   I've played 100s of games and never disconnected from not a single one. And my pc is 9 years old lol.  I have verizon FIOS.  Try changing your DNS Servers.

The people hitting -19 under on Tour regularly are certainly doing something that prevents human error or giving them some sort of advantage. Kind of like men competing in women’s sports. You might get close or even beat them once in awhile but they have some unfair advantage. 

Yeah that’s pretty suspect. Don’t care how good your character is, there has to be some margin of error if it’s all human induced play.
