Pro Pass is Pay2Win and will fail

Getting specs that can only be attained from having Pro Pass, which clearly effect a player for the good is Pay2Win. EA pretty much tanked Star Wars Battlefront with P2W loot crates and the fallout that came from 400k downvotes on reddit.

What is offered in Pro Pass isn't really worth whatever they're charging either. You can get plenty of coins simply playing the game and you can buy tickets or earn tickets and how many tickets do you really need if you're not playing all modes and who is really playing am/pro/tour/sim? An extremely small population fit that bill.

I will not be buying Pro Pass.

  • I wont be buying it either, but witholding judgement on it until I see it.  For example, I'm not sure it can be termed pay to win unless specs on there are only exclusive to payers, and are significantly better than other specs..

As for PTW failing.... look at SWGOH.   You only need a few whales willing to pay ridiculous amounts to provide a revenue stream worthy of maintaining a game for....

Up to now EA has made a pretty good effort to staying away from the Pay to Win model. Everything to this point has been cosmetic... though I guess technically you can buy your way into tournaments.

But I personally don't see a problem with how they are handling this yet.

To be honest this is one of the things about the game I least worry about.

  • All of the specs in pro-pass are in the free tier, so there is zero pay-to-win mechanic here. As has been true up to now, what paying gets you is additional cosmetic items.
