I play an PS5 and don't recognise the putting bug you describe though. Are you saying that you can keep moving the analogue stick it stops moving in game, or something else?
I like the putting, though, sadly, I'm not very good at it.
But to the concern, if you delay the transition from back to downstroke, it will reset. That's my experience.

Same for me and this definitely feels like what it's intended to do to me.
