Putting Ruined in Update 3.0
Guys please, revert. This update on putting is terrible. Additionally, the lip-outs are terrible. I've got 100 matches under my belt on this IP to learn the game and just getting a handle on it. I've...
@iglooman__TW Okay so I sense this back and forth might get ugly but let's get something straight.
Using phrases like "willy-nilly" and "artificial difficulty" make zero sense.
You like it the "IDEA" but then turn around and play both sides of the fence and state they "THREW THEM IN" and even stated why they "THREW THEM IN" to create artificial difficulty???
Maybe they were "ADDED TO THE GAME" because they weren't in the game, and they are part of real golf and not for some silly reason you gave which was artificial difficulty. It's just more difficult...there is nothing artificial about it other then the fact that it's a video game.
The problem is the specific example of a slightly overhit put rolling over the right or left 1/3 of the cup and just rolling over as if there was no cup. This is the only example that I feel they need to address. The game is punishing aggression on putts that are close to perfect incorrectly in some cases and anyone who has this as their main issue then I agree.
I was hitting overpowered aggressive putts on the outer 1/3 of the cup and they would drop every single time when there were no lip-outs and it was great and all for me...but seemed ridiculous as well. It was so easy and unrealistic.
@SneaklerLook, sorry you can't understand simple logic. A game is not "more difficult" by adding random events that make no sense. That's like making tires blow out on Gran Turismo every other race. Well, it's more difficult now. If you cannot see that these slow hits right over the cup just shooting past as "willly nilly' and "artificial difficulty", then that's your personal problem. Not playing both sides of anything, I see the need for a tweak, but done so with some real thought and testing. Let's just add random shanks regardless of your swing plane and tempo.

This is a putting conversation, make a thread about your random shanks statement.
I ask that you don't talk about my logic on this topic until you find a mirror in your home and look at it for 5-10 minutes...minimum.
Who said the events that were happening were "RANDOM" besides you? I have stated multiple times that there is only one example that needs fixing.
The lip-outs that are hit slow enough...lip-in...and the ones that are going too fast...lip-out...this is not random and they do "MAKE SENSE"
Sweet Gran Turismo reference man! Comparing blowing out tires in a racing game to putts hitting the edge and lipping out. Do you actually watch motorsports? Blown out tires are not really common and they happen to one or two drivers in the field of 30-40 in an entire 500 mile race.
You know what you WON'T see in real golf. The way we were putting a couple days ago before this update. Literally zero cup mechanics, ball just falls in like there is a magnet in the cup.
Also, I want you to know that "ARTIFICIAL DIFFICULTY" implies they added it just to screw people over randomly...do you understand that. I don't think they added it for that reason and I am not sure anyone else does either. They added it because it's part of golf and you see it IRL and in video games.
@SneaklerOk you win. I know nothing of what I say. The game is booming online right now. They nearly cut the price in half. Keep making things ARTIFICIALLY difficult. Random is artificial. Game will be dead before Fall.
Like I said earlier...
I just think this conversation needs to be focused around fixing the actual problem.
Hitting a putt with some extra pace to cut down on break is something you often see professionals do IRL and is something you were able to do in-game.
I want these to lip-out instead of fall in if your ball truly does roll on the edge of the cup.
When they are within the range of the cup speed should not matter unless you went crazy with the power. For example, adding 3 feet of extra power on a level putt from 6 feet away should never just roll over the cup if you place it correctly.
This should be the main focus of what we want them to address because the additions of lip-outs and ring around and in's has been painful and also a great realistic addition to the game.
