I agree this thread would fit the bug reports or technical issues. It would be nice if this thread got moved to technical issues and have this combined with the other similar threads. I remembered EA moving an issue thread in Madden Forum to technical issues; that issue got fixed eventually.

The OP could have just revived an existing thread. As mentioned by many this issue has existed since an early patch to correct an issue where the ball would go in pretty much no matter how hard you hit the ball.
EA's resolution went too far in the other direction and have yet to evaluate and correct it. OR EA feels that it is correct the way it is. Afterall it's been several patches since they changed it and have done nothing to update it.
I have been on this forum since the game has been released. Offered my thoughts on where the game was lacking the same as others... but it is obvious EA has a roadmap they are following.
It seems they are more concerned about following their roadmap than getting the game in a more playable state.
I would argue many of us have moved on to something else than to endure the flaws in this game. Comments are just falling on deaf ears and misery loving company just isn't enough.
You would think that the comments on this forum would form the general feeling about the game in the community, so why aren't EA listening?

I personally took a break from regular play because I pretty much maxed out my character in a couple of weeks, completed all the achievements then got bored of online not working/loading up games (an actual serious issue that needed to be addressed)... now they have online four balls and foursomes im coming back to have another crack at it properly, this is kind of the thing I wanted from the start and im glad they now added it.
As far as the comments on the forum part goes... id say that is categorically not the case. Forums are echo chambers for people to complain, sorry to say it but thats the truth. Im a member of various DJ gear and photography forums and they are all the same, 85/90% of the threads are around people not happy with the product. These places are not in any way a reflection of wider opinion and should never be assumed as such.

I guess that is one opinion. I am a member of the Miyoo Mini forum, and I don't think I have ever seen a negative comment on there.
The device is not perfect, but it has certainly overachieved in what it does for the cost to own it. And the unpaid developers do a heck of a job making it better with regular updates.
People are helpful and positive over there. You can see positive steps with every iteration of the firmware.
I think people are generally pretty accepting if you deliver what they have been sold. This product was over sold and have failed to deliver which is why I feel there are so many negative comments. And subsequent updates have not made you think things are going to get much better.
There were many people that were positive about the fact that given time things would get better. Bugs fixed... etc. But after 7 months I think most of them have woken up to the reality that this is what it is going to be and moved on.
As someone mentioned this forum has now reduced to a handful of people.
I visit to see what is new... I don't play it anymore unless a new patch drops. My regular group refuse to play it at all and are playing 2K.
At least tried to give it a chance to win me over. But there is nothing here for the person looking for a more sim experience.

This is mostly true. However, I think there is also space for legitimate criticism and requests on forums as well. I like this game. Enjoy playing it, but certainly think there are many areas that could be improved. All that said. at this point, some of the people who say X doesn't work or Y doesn't work I can't help but think its PEBCAK in many cases as I do NOT have the same problems. If people could provide video, I feel like there are some of us who would be happy to help get them on the right track.....

While I agree that a levelled up character plays closer to how it should. The game should never require you to levelled up to execute a good shot. A perfect shot should be rewarded regardless of the level your character is at. Making it easier to execute a better shot is what levelling should be about.
Your argument has been once you level up, the game plays correctly. I would say once levelled up the game becomes even more arcade like... you can basically just point and shoot at the flag.

Are the people complaining not leveled up and specced? Because that's not what I'm hearing in most cases from the people who are providing most of the criticism. I certainly acknowledge there is some random generated nonsense for avatars below like oh level 30 without specs., but like any game, I'm more concerned with the end game. If someone is fully specced and decently leveled and are saying that things don't make sense with what's happening with their ball on a regular basis, then I am only left with Pebcak. The ball goes where its expected based on the results of my swings.

I don't want to speak for @7AnimalMother, but my understanding from his post is that this is realistic behaviour. And that he has seen it IRL.
I personal haven't but will take his word that he has seen it happen.

Then I think we are on the same page. The mechanics of this game are terrible, and require you to level up to make it playable for most people.
Personally this is an arcade game, and using based players is the only way to create some sort of challenge. But in doing so you are not rewarded for your shots.
Basically you just hit the ball, find the ball and hit it again. Once you get closer to the green and the RNG tightens and you can execute a more quality shot. RNG is still prevalent but does not affect the result as much. Once on the green RNG is no longer in play.
This random style of play still isn't that challenging. You can still score low playing this way even on SIM. Is it a rewarding way to play? NO!
Which is why this game has sat idle for weeks now. Only to see the light of day when a new update is released.

Never actually had this happen to me in game, but I have in RL semi-frequently. I generally hit my putts on the firmer side, and if I miss it's on the high side. Many of those misses on longer putts come in high and catch the back half of the hole. Definitely have seen the ball redirect back toward the break after such a miss. You can get some weird reactions when a small portion of your ball rattles of different angles of a concave wall.
- @7AnimalMother your talking about playing with friends at your local course and such most likely, so yeah maybe when you're playing like that it happens, not likely with the actual events on the pga tour, I've NEVER seen a putt roll towards the hole online then break away at the last second, never, not once and I watch ALOT of golf, even girl golf same thing, NEVER happens

I’m saying the ball is -hitting- the hole and then redirecting back the way it came. If you hit the hole weird things happen. I can’t say I specifically remember seeing this on a tour broadcast, but I’m sure it likely happens there fairly frequently as well. Maybe even more so as they are likely catching pieces of the high side of the hood mote frequently than amateurs.
