I really don't understand your comment ???
Both games have Pluses/Minuses
But if you had an unbiased & totally objective view.... you'd realize that EA's putting model is pure S _ _ _ 🪰💩🪰

This is what I’m talking about. Close to the hole and poor preview angle almost around the back of the cup.

I am on PC and have found improvement since 4.0.
Not nearly as many lip outs, which make this game much more enjoyable.

@RodSirloin You keep trashing HBS, which makes ABSOLUTELY no sense when discussing EA Putting
You seem to have OCD about HBS.
Again, the EA Putting Model totally sucks and needs to be completely remodeled.
Their current adaptation does not reflect any type of golf.
Please only reply if you have something Intelligent to add !

@-CACarpenter55-How do you not understand that low sales = inferior product? 2k23 is trash and that’s reflected in ~80k units sold. HB Studios made mobile games before Golf Club and 2k. At one point they were putting dev hiring ads on FB. They’re a bunch of 2 bit flunkies. Use your head dudeWhere exactly are you getting your numbers? I haven't been able to find any sales numbers for 2K23... but I know 2K21 sold about 3 million copies. So my expectation is that 2K23 should sell about a million copies on release with final sales at about 3 million.
As for HB Studio's they were a small development company that decided to create a niche product that has been abandoned by larger publishers.
Not only did they evolve the genre they created a usee base with their offering and brought virtual golf back into the mainstream.
If not for this small group of developers who saw an opportunity and vision of what could be done. You would be limited to be playing Hot Shots Golf.
Other than the career mode and graphics, I can't argue in it's current state that EA has the better game.
By the way, in my personal opinion... gameplay will always trump graphics.
- 3 years ago@ELF014 I have played all HB golf versions, and have been totally impressed by their product, when 2k took over, I saw a rise in the professional presentation of the product, but a definite decline in development. I preferred HB studios as an independent developer of the golf game

I preferred HB studios as an independent developer of the golf game.As you can see I have all 5 games in the series. I remember the early days when you spoke directly with developers and other staff members on their forums.
That a bug would be brought up in discussions on a Friday, and they would have fixed it with a patch by Monday morning.
I felt that as a small fledgling development company they were more committed to the project, you could see the proud they had in their craft.
I really liked the earlier games, though they did need to evolve, and they were moving in the right direction. There was a definite shift in the game after 2019 that I personally didn't love. You could somehow feel the shift from a small shop dedicated to one piece of intellectual property to large conglomerate.
I really hate the speed of the backswing in 2K21... as well as how both companies handled attributes. They should be tied to the equipment, like in previous TGC games. But I do respect EA's handling of the skill tree versus 2K's.
But EA's difficulty level is way too low, at least 2K provides settings to challenge all level of players.
I personally don't understand the people that complain about the swing timing in 2K. If they cannot use it, there are 3 levels lower than the default PRO, making it easier until it is fully disabled.
Check your ego at the door and pick a aetting so you can at least get a feel for what the game is before saying that it is trash.
I like the HB Studio products better... played 2019 a weeks ago on-line with friends... and other than the slow greens and clunky putting it was fun.
Too bad HB Studio's didn't put in as a stipulation during the sale of their product to force 2K to maintain servers for all their games. The Golf Club games are no longer available for multiplayer.
EA Golf is sorely behind in this race... there are a lot of gaps/bugs in gameplay and features. The game released more polished than the first Golf Club game... but HB Studio's provided much more under the hood. Which is saying a lot for a small studio... and really speaks volumes about EA.
I'm really hoping EA gets their act together, but they are not the company they once were.
But you are not wrong, both 2K and EA appear to be about shining things up to sell you a product. Rather than providing a product that sells itself.
I'm ready to support another company wants to create something that fills their heart, rather than their pockets.

When I use my putter (Ping PLD), it lines it up way off on the toe, not on the center. Putts break a lot at the beginning, but in real life they break more at the end. This has been an issue ever since the last game EA introduced. Also not a fan of how the camera moves to the right after the ball is hit.

I have not noticed, but agree that the ball should break more as it slows down.

A honest question for all…
Have any of you actually put the putting stat up high?
Before seeing several people comment that it doesn’t have much impact on putting ability, I had my stat one off of full. After reading I lowered it, one lower than the last shield marker.
I feel like the only noted difference was the putting lines. When I lowered the stat, I started to find many lines were clearly wrong or utilized a crazy approach to the hole.I just started playing again since the last update to the putting line and I have only missed two putts in four rounds. Those two were some stupid cup jumping that seems to tie into the lip in/out system which has some serious issues.
It doesn’t make sense that what I’m saying could be true based on how the stats are “supposed” to work, I know. But subjectively I feel like the accuracy in the putting lines has been affected.
I would welcome any thoughts or observations on this if anyone has any.
part of why I ask is because I am hesitant to lower my putting stat further, because of this. Someone please tell me it’s all in my head lol. I could use the skill points to top up other stats. 🙏🏻🤘🏻
- PalomaMarvel243 years agoSeasoned Ace@EdrickLee33 The last time I had putting below the last shield was before update 3. The putting was not that great. The putting got better when I got to level 8 at last shield. I tried level 9 and 10, but I it seemed the putting is the same. For straight and flat putt profiles, level 8 attributes and ball specs help. But for curved profiles, the putting is pretty bad especially in LACC. I am hesitant to go lower in putting so I don’t get too many lip outs. I like d the putting before Update 3. At least Update 4 has some improvements in putting.
- 3 years ago@EdrickLee33 Yes I’ve tried this but it makes zero difference
As mentioned earlier the ONLY thing the putting attribute does is it makes you hit it straighter
It has zero effect on your ability to putt
None of the top players have hardly any stats in putting- 3 years ago@agentputt Thank you. I appreciate your answer, and all of your posts on the topic. How many points do you use in putting? (If you don’t mind sharing)
@PalomaMarvel24 thank you as well.
