Randomly Generated Nonsense
Alright, this is absurd. It does not matter how well you play. This game will randomly decide what happens. It seems to happen the better you play so I have become convinced this is actually nerfi...

@CkYMaximusThe worst part of the sway in the blue line is it doesn’t even end up between them, which I could accept.
Today I had a perfect round going. Then came a tee shot. Wind straight ahead… swaying blue line and dark circle lined up with the fairway and green. I couldn’t miss based on that reading with a perfect swing, right? Should end up in front of or on, potentially even over the green with a bad bounce.
But no… it was mystery option three where with my straight and well timed swing the ball inexplicably faded drastically right of that, finding a water hazard intended for the previous hole. -shrugs-
I’m a reasonable person, and if I could make this make sense, I would.
What game mode was this in? Only slightly wondering if it was in career mode and there's some scripting at play... It may be coincidence but I don't play career mode and also genuinely don't recognise this sort of example from my own play in the game.

@Ultrasonic_77Yes, I do play exclusively in Career mode. Subjectively, it feels like it is something like what you’re guessing at.
Maybe I should play a few dozen rounds of quick play to see if it still happens.
I'll be curious what you find if you try this. There is some random element to play but what you've been describing does feel much more pronounced that I've seen. I can pretty comfortably hit every fairway unless I'm pushing it with a Power Driver or aiming for a very tight part for example, and even Power Drives go pretty straight despite the larger indicated dispersion zone.
Final post on the matter…. This is nerfing. I’ve considered it enough to become convinced that this is the video game equivalent of participation trophies. That is absurd.
But it is what it is. I will hope they fix this in the next update, as it does not make the game more interesting or exciting. More challenging is debatable because you’re actually removing the human element from the outcome experience. All in all, it is just frustrating and, most importantly, not fun.
