i want to be able to play local with my wife with her profile. but its not possible, will this be coming to the game? if not i will request a refund
It should be all the quick play modes. And like previous versions it should be two - four local players with their own profiles or at least the four custom players in each profile and their progression is maintained.
There is no point in the primary profile custom player being the only one that can progress as they play.I stop by my parents place every evening for an hour or so and play 18 holes of Tiger Woods PGA 14 on the PS3 with my dad. Been doing this for years now. We play "offline" with our own custom characters. (We always play offline and never use the PGA Tour golfers that came with the game.) One display, one PS3, two controllers. We start a practice round, select a course, select a game type, select our custom players, check our controller assignments on the controllers themselves updating the controller assignment for our custom players in-game to match (by hitting the triangle button) and away we go. No announcers, no fans, no player reaction after each shot, all that garbage is turned off. It's pure bliss. I was going to purchase a PS5 for my dad along with PGA Tour 2023, but if we can't continue the tradition I've described here there's absolutely no point. We'll just continue playing Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2014.
- @cds1834 I think that it's necessary to tell EA that it's a wish but they will add this for sure, you don't need to boycott the game for this. The early acces is today, there is no game that launch without some adjustment to do.
You can't play with two custom players at the same time!!? What kind of bovine ordure is that!? This is insane. I'm definitely getting a refund for this game. What a absolute joke. I can't even get my Sony PS5 account to link with my EA account because it was already linked to my PS4.
The amount of crap we put up with from EA is sickening. I want to burn their building down.
That's all well and good. In my case however, I don't own a PS5 yet. I'd be purchasing both a PS5 and a copy of the game for my dad. So yes, for now I won't be purchasing the game. If/when PGA Tour 2023 provides the experience I described I'll make the investment, otherwise my dad and I will just continue enjoying Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14, a game that supports proper offline play for 2-4 players, including offline career mode.
Don’t think anyone is suggesting a boycott, however, we have no idea if or when this will be implemented and for those of us who do not want to play online, it’s a pretty big outlay for a game that is in practice useless to those of us in this category - when EA stated couch coop is a feature from day one, I suspect all of us assumed it would be the same as before. It simply isn’t and not fit for our purpose.
EA would have been better stating this will come with a future early patch - like the 60fps.
They may never solve this and view this feature as a low priority if online gaming is their primary focus. As I said we have no idea given we’ve had no confirmation either way from EA.
When this colossal oversight eventually gets rectified, they should also ensure there’s an option to even out stats so both players are equal. You should be able to make all created golfers share the same stats for even games.
How do you play local 2x player using 2x custom players, either a 2nd game tag or even a 2nd creative player?
It needs to be available the same way it was in Rory McIlroy PGA Tour.
Deleted trial and won’t be purchasing as pointless game for me if you can’t use 2x creative players.
EA please can we have the feature added to play more than one profile character golfer in couch co op mode.
By having just one character and being forced to use a pro golfer as second player will lose you many customers.
couch co op must be played with multiple profile characters otherwise it’s not worth playing.can you confirm if this feature will be added??
- @Chak209 Yes, actually, we should be boycotting these AAA games that only include $20 worth of features. They've been doing it for years now and the only way they'll stop is if we stop paying full price for these half finished piles of 5hit.
The more people asking for the feature the more likely EA will work on adding it in a future patch.
Keeping this thread in the top of the boards will make sure everyone is aware and support the case to add the feature.

@Jubei-DakuanIndeed, I paid for the EA club so I could try this out before I committed to the full price. I knew this would be an issue 2K (PGA 19,21 & 23) continued to struggle to implement this fully in a long time (it’s better but still not profile based) but given EA have nailed this will all previous incarnations - it’s hard to ascertain why they would do a poor / unfinished job at this basic feature.
I doubt they will be able to sort this quickly, they may be able to have multiple custom golfers per Xbox profile. But to have a local game sharing independent Xbox profile custom players - that seems a long way off and if it’s not been considered in the framework of the game - it’ll be months before it’s included - if ever.
They might surprise us - I’m not holding my breath on this one 🙂At the very least it should be available for a local quick play match.
I am still debating requesting a refund. The game is basically useless to me if my fiancé and I can’t play H2H with our characters. I can’t justify switching over to this game when they can’t even provide the most basic features expected from a game at launch.
- @BishopfrmJuice7 I would request the refund now and repurchase if they ever sort this out. I'm certainly not proceeding to a purchase at the moment.
That’s what I am going to do. I am incredibly disappointed by this. My fiancé and I probably play golf on Xbox 20 hours a week and wanted something new.
I would honestly be shocked if EA ever fixed this based on the current set up of the game.
Agreed if they don't turn local match on, I will never buy another golf game. Played local for years with the wife and kids. Don't wont to play online.

I and it appears the community would like to be able to play local multiplayer with character created golfers - up to 4 and assign specific controllers to local players.

I wonder who on the dev team is responsible for this? No excuse that you can't have 2 custom players in couch co-op. Do we need EA Redwood Shores from 2005 back because my LORD I did not expect a * up THIS bad. The only thing worse than this is offline offering only quick play and not Career, tournament, and challenges as promised.
