Re: Feedback on PGA Tours "Pro Pass"

I don't get the Pro Pass as just a way to make more revenue for EA. The already had a way to earn VC, XP and items through the challenges. As well as a store.

Even for those who don't want to pay for the Premium tier, the free tier has actually added back in a form of progression to work through that was missing otherwise for everyone who had got their player to level 50. There have certainly been a fair few players post here to wish there was something more to aim at. For those struggling to earn Tickets via the Tournaments section the Pro Pass has also added in an additional source of these, and of additional Reward Points too come to that. I'm not suggesting this is some huge game-changer but it doesn't seem totally without merit either.

I was personally surprised something like Pro Pass wasn't in the game from launch, and from the following video it was clear that it had always been planned:

@Ultrasonic_77 the "reward" from the pass are a joke, its not even worth doing, 3200 total coins if you buy the pass, 4 tokens if you buy the pass, thats a slap in the face. shouldve been at least 10 tickets and double the coins. ea have NO idea what they are doing

The total rewards are MUCH more than that. Not quite sure what you're looking at. You realise it scrolls right up to level 60?

@Ultrasonic_77 I thought it went to level 70?

I had a quick look... and for me the Pro Pass is much to do about nothing. It basically pays out TICKETS, VC, some SPEC's that no one will really want except maybe the one at level 70. Which I think was currently available in the store. And a few cosmetic items if you are willing to pay real money for to open up the paid version.

If you have maxed out your character which most of us have and you don't play the tournaments; what does the Pro Pass really offer?

It seems completing the Pro Pass is a pretty quick exercise, and then the Daily and Weekly Quests will be a moot point as well until the Season 2 Pro Pass.

Obviously this may have been always intended to be in the game, but like much of what is built in not very well thought out.

I don't have the game in front of me so assume you're right it's 70. Best I could think is @ragingsaint hadn't scrolled right?

I hadn't seen the top spec in the store and actually think it would be nice if it wasn't, at least for a long time. It wasn't there yesterday but I've not looked today.

What it gives players at level 50 (which I am btw) is some tickets, reward points and the new top iron spec. Plus cosmetics if people pay for premium (which I likely won't). May as well use the tickets to enter a tournament, and the reward points can be used to buy cosmetics, or specs if don't already have your favourites.

How quick pro pass is to complete will depend how much the points needed increase by level so I'm not sure yet. It needs to be achievable for most and so those who play loads will no doubt say they completed it quickly.

@Ultrasonic_77From what I saw last night... and I am only on now to play with friends. Is that you are being paid out through Daily and Weekly Quests. It looks like there are multiple Daily and Weekly Quests... the Daily ones are worth 100 Pro Pass points each, the Weeklies between 300 and 400 points.

By the way I cleared all the Daily Quests last night playing one round of Matchplay.

The levels appear to need 150 points each... so you need a total of around 10,500 points over 40 something days? I don't have the game on in front of me. That is an average of about 250 Pro Pass points a day. I think there were 7 Daily Quests on the board last night... so I cleared 700 points with another 700 available for the Weekly ones... where the timer looks like it was only set for 3 days (again from memory).

For me the Pro Pass is much about nothing... there is nothing there of much value if you have played the game for any amount of time.

The spec at the is moot because it really isn't needed to score well. The characters are already so overpowered I'm not sure a few more skill points matters anymore.

I don't think it is enough to squeeze anymore out of the game... a 39 is the limit no matter how much better the specs are (I'm saying this with sarcasm, and an ounce of truth).

The levels in the pro pass require progressively more tokens each level.  I’m only through level 20, but I think  that level required 400 or so tokens.  You also earn tokens through career, online, and tournaments modes at a rate of 20 a hole.

Overall, I believe the pro pass is providing far more value (between vc, tickets, best iron spec in the game) than the dailys and weekly’s used to.  If you want to make use of the xp and have a maxed toon, then make a new toon and claim the rewards with it.

Now all that said, would I have rather seen turn based stroke play, or two created toon couch mode instead of pro pass?  Absolutely!   But I’m not going to poo poo a change that is decent and also probably needed to support the game over the long haul.  With there not being a 2024 version due to this being a live service, they need to create a method other than just cosmetics that will be a consistent revenue stream….

If this is the case, then my mistake... I can only respond based on what I have seen so far and from my experience, and so far every level advanced by 150 Pro Pass Points... but I'm still near the start.

I'm fairly certain level 2 took more points than level 1 actually. Think I'm at about level 10 but think there's probably been a points increment for each level. The equivalent in the F1 games definitely does and increasingly EA seem to be bringing similar fundamental mechanics to all games.

It makes sense to need progressively more points for each level to be fair too. Easier progression early on to get people interested, but still provide a longer term challenge.

@Ultrasonic_77 I'm pretty sure it was still showing 150 last night when I looked. I think I'm at level 7. I might be it changes at every 10th level.

I'm home now so able to check my notes. I was trying to keep track of the early levels as I was curious what the progression might be. It definitely only too 100 tokens to unlock level one, but due to a quest the next 4-hole daily I played jumped me up to part-way through to level three so I immediately lost the ability to work out the level jumps and game up!

Right now I'm something like a quarter the way towards level 11 and it shows that I need 280 more tokens. I play on PS5 for what it's worth just in case something different is happening on another platform. What I'm seeing very much fits with my expectations for this sort of thing though.

Whatever, I'm sure it's going to take a while to complete which is all I think we were originally talking about 🙂.

I'm also on the PS5 platform... it looks like I was paying attention to the wrong thing. I did see the progress bar above tracking tokens, but I assumed that it would have a 1 to 1 ratio with purchasing the level with the PGA TOUR POINTS you can buy with cash.

Apparently NOT... if you want to buy your way through the Pro Pass it is 150 points per level. While earning them through the quests increases incrementally.

    You be right.

  • Good thoughts Elf. Here is something that I would like to suggest as an improvement to the Pro Pass. I play just with my created players. I have created 4 now. Three of them have maxed out and are rated above 93 players. I enjoy the games. The last I created to honor my lifetime friend. We met when we were three years old and have been connected like brothers ever since. He passed away 8 years ago now. What I think would be a huge improvement to Pro Pass if each and every individual created player were able to progress up the ladder to 70. They cannot. Once your connection has reached the Pro Pass 70 all future gained tokens etc are useless. Having every new creation is the answer. Please add this to the next update. It would be very much appreciated by people like me that have people in their lives that mean so much and when created get so little.

I also like Elf's idea of a driving range and a putting green.

    Thanks, LemonDrop
